Out of the ashes …

Judging by today’s headlines you would not be wrong in thinking our entire civilization is collapsing. Every aspect of life on this planet appears to be in some form of destructive chaos — what is now being called a “polycrisis.” Why? What can we do?

On a day-to-day basis, it’s hard to see that incrementally, over time, the forces of power and greed throughout the world have infiltrated and taken over every aspect of our global society and made life unsustainable for all but a few. All that has contributed to this dangerous imbalance must be swept away before a “new world” can be born. Biblically you might think of Jesus’ parable “…new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.” You may even think of instances in your own life where everything seemed to be falling apart, but suddenly new and better things began to take their place.

Unless you believe that it was the Creator’s intention for this world to come to an inglorious end around this time, you have to consider that the destruction that is so outwardly visible is actually clearing the decks (making “new bottles”) for a world that works for everyone and everything in it.

By comparison to the 24/7 coverage of death, destruction, corruption, and environmental crises, the media gives scant attention to the magnitude of positive change that is actually happening to build this better world. If you look carefully, you can see it in the mass demonstrations taking place in every country demanding justice on many fronts. Millions are working selflessly to aid the poor and hungry and to create new structures to eliminate this scourge forever. Brilliant (largely unknown) minds are solving a myriad of problems. All of this suggests that the heart of humanity is sound and able to meet this mega challenge. To this we wish to add that extraordinary, incorruptible help is at hand and ever ready to point us in the right direction and guide our steps.

At this very time, a little-known cosmic event is also taking place. As we move into the Aquarian age, characterized by energies of synthesis, unity and cooperation, the spiritual custodians of human evolution — the Masters of Wisdom — have once again sent one of their great ones into the world to act as a teacher for the coming time. Some of the past teachers we have known historically as Confucius, Krishna, Buddha, the Christ and Mohammed. Major world religions all expect another great teacher at some future time, and his imminent appearance has been foreseen by some writers since the late 1800s.

For more than 40 years, British esotericist and lecturer Benjamin Creme informed the world of a coming change — the collapse of our old structures to make way for the new. He served as a herald for the World Teacher for this age, Maitreya — the one expected by many and longed for by millions (consciously or not), who has come now to guide us through this perilous time and into a cleansed and transformed new world.

Maitreya has advised humanity to make the needed changes to put our world on a saner, fairer path:

Maitreya and his group have worked behind the scenes for millennia to guide our human family. Now, with these powerful, incorruptible allies openly in the world for the next 2,000 years and beyond, we have the opportunity to build a new world that works for everyone. Will we take it?

What’s REALLY behind all the polarization?

Everybody’s talking about it, journalists are writing about it, and all kinds of explanations are being offered for the extreme divisions we’re seeing in many forms today: men versus women, immigrants versus citizens of their adoptive country, reactionaries versus progressives, country versus city dwellers, free-marketers versus those demanding social safety nets, the ultra-wealthy versus the impoverished, environmentalists versus profit-centered corporations, and so on. Reasons given for the divisiveness seem to correspond to the backgrounds of those trying to explain it and range from historical trends to “human nature,” to power struggles at all levels of relationship — personal, political, and national — to religious end-of-days scenarios and more.

These types of analysis are more descriptive than explanatory, though. To understand the dynamic correctly, we must look at our planetary situation from a higher perspective. Astronomers are familiar with “the procession of the equinoxes,” which to lay people means that in its transit around the heavens, which takes about 27,000 years, our solar system comes into alignment with each of the 12 constellations in turn, for a period of about 2,300 years each, more or less. While in alignment with a constellation, for example Aquarius, we are said to be in the age of that constellation. We are now leaving the orbit of the constellation Pisces and coming more closely into alignment with Aquarius with each passing year. Therefore, we are exiting the Age of Pisces and are at the dawning of the Age of Aquarius — as celebrated in the song of that name from the musical “Hair.”

A fact not necessarily known by astronomers but known by esotericists, is that each constellation is characterized by different energetic qualities, which influence us very strongly while our solar system and planet are in alignment with it. Piscean qualities are individuality, devotion, and idealism — all of which have helped an evolving humanity graduate from the herd mentality to individual intelligence and creative thinking. The same qualities, though, have also tended to divide individuals and groups devoted to differing ideals and pit them against each other. We are experiencing the extreme results of Piscean energies today as widespread polarization and conflict in almost every aspect of life.

Simultaneously, we’re seeing seeds of new ways of thinking that are influenced more by the incoming Aquarian energies of synthesis, cooperation, and brotherhood — and we’ll see these seeds grow in importance as our alignment with Aquarius becomes more direct. The present turmoil caused by the clash of two opposing worldviews will gradually end in a peaceful unity that synthesizes all the color and diversity of life. Life on our transformed Earth would be difficult to imagine today in our wildest flights of fantasy.

However, to get there, we have to respond correctly to the energies of Aquarius and change our structures accordingly. Fortunately, we’ll have the help of our elder brothers, the Masters of Wisdom, along with their leader, Maitreya, the World Teacher for the Age of Aquarius. Maitreya has been in our midst, though unknown, since 1977, working behind the scenes to prepare us for the needed changes. He is expected to make himself known soon, however, and with his guidance and that of his group, the pace of change is likely to accelerate.

Maitreya brings yet another energy — the energy of Love — which amplifies whatever energies are already dominant. That is, those whose energy is divisive will become more so, and those who are working for the common good will be strengthened in their efforts. This way, the differences between the two ways of being will become undeniably clear, and humanity’s choice between them made easier. Thus Maitreya wields the Sword of Cleavage — the Love that separates the wheat from the chaff, the sheep from the goats.

One of the Masters of Wisdom has commented on this coming time in a message recorded in Share International magazine by its editor, the late Benjamin Creme:

All that men now hold dear will be held in question; all that has brought the world to its present sorry and dangerous state.

Soon, the weakness of the present structures will begin to show itself to even the most blinkered viewer. The cracks and rifts will become apparent for what they are: the signs of breakdown of an outworn and decaying order ready for renewal. The speed of that renewal lies in the hands of men; they alone must give full welcome to the new, and enter gladly into the tasks of reconstruction. …

Learning to share, they will inaugurate the era of trust. Trusting, they will cooperate in solving the many problems which now face them, and in grateful imitation of the Masters will awaken to the love which has been ever present but unknown.

We are on the cusp of a cosmic transformation, regardless of how it appears at the moment, and we can rest assured that when the Masters determine the most beneficial time to make themselves known publicly, they will step forward without fail to assist.

Nuclear Energy: What We Don’t Know Is Hurting Us

In their drive to stop climate chaos, many people—even scientists—promote nuclear power as a safe alternative to fossil fuels. However, if the extreme hazards of this technology were known by the public they wouldn’t be so eager to embrace it. Even scientists are unaware of the worst consequences of nuclear energy.

On the positive side, some surprising unknowns are helping us, but first let’s examine some of the hazards.

Most significant is the unsolved waste disposal problem. As of 2021, there were about 370,000 tons of high-level radioactive waste worldwide needing disposal, containing over 100 radioactive elements that cause various cancers and have varying half-lives. For example, Iodine-129, a thyroid carcinogen, has a half-life of 16 million years.

Further complicating the picture for both nuclear plants and waste storage are the constant risks of accidents, natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis, and nuclear warfare. We should have learned from the consequences of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima Daiichi, among other calamities—but the nuclear industry is powerful, a lot of money is involved, and the public has been kept in the dark about the continuing effects of the radiation created by these events.

Unfortunately, radiation doesn’t stay where it’s released. If the release is on land, wind currents take it wherever the wind blows; if on the coasts, ocean currents carry it around the world. In the 1950s, harmful levels of radioactive caesium from bomb tests in Nevada were found in Minnesota wheat, about 1,500 miles away. And in 2013, there were reports of elevated radiation levels , mass die-offs of sea stars, and marine animals suffering from hair loss and open sores on the U.S. west coast, after radiation from Fukushima had crossed the Pacific. Official sources insisted that the low radiation levels reaching our shores were “nothing to worry about,” but according to Beyond Nuclear, there is no safe dose of ionizing radiation.

Other drawbacks

Even without accidents, all nuclear power plants release radioactive water and gases as part of their routine operation , and filtering technologies don’t exist for some of the major by-products, such as radioactive hydrogen (tritium), which can produce cancer, developmental abnormalities, and genetic effects. Government regulations allow these radioactive pollutants to be released into both water and air.

Sea-level rise is another serious issue. Scientists estimate a minimum rise by 2100 of two feet, which would threaten many coastal reactors worldwide. In the U.S., nine reactors are within two miles of the ocean. Four of these are vulnerable to storm surges and sea-level rise and are close to large cities within evacuation range, including Washington DC and New York City.

Health impacts? Well. Besides those mentioned, radiation bioaccumulates in the body and can be passed on to fetuses, so the “gift” keeps on giving. And since it often takes decades for cancers to develop, their source may be unidentified. We do know, though, that cancers are increasing. The number of people worldwide diagnosed with cancer rose from 18.7 million people in 2010 to 23.6 million in 2019 . Thyroid cancers in particular have risen rapidly in recent decades, for no apparent reason.

What scientists don’t know

Beyond these facts that nuclear experts (not necessarily the public!) know, others are known only by esotericists. The late British author and esotericist Benjamin Creme recorded the following information from a Master of Wisdom—one of the custodians of Earth’s evolutionary plan—in his book, The Gathering of the Forces of Light: UFOs and their Spiritual Mission .

Toxicity, pollutions of all kinds and in all fields, is now the greatest danger to all men, animals and the Earth itself. All are poisoned and sick in their own way.

Unknown to men but evident to us, the greatest harm sustained by men and planet in this sorry tale is caused by nuclear radiation. … Led astray by greed and the false hope of vast profits, they have concentrated their experiments in ‘taming’ the most dangerous source of energy ever discovered by man ….

Earth scientists are confident that they have, indeed, tamed the monster, and can keep it under control. They do not realize that their instruments are crude indeed, that they measure only the lower aspects of nuclear radiation, that stretching above these dense-physical levels are levels finer and more dangerous to the health and well-being of all.

The levels the Master speaks of are the etheric planes. Western science currently recognizes only three aspects of matter: solids, liquids, and gases. Above those, however, are four additional physical planes of etheric matter, finer than gas and invisible to most people. Creme explains that nuclear radiation is even more dangerous at the etheric level, since it destroys the immune system, making individuals susceptible to all manner of diseases.

These harmful facts are sobering, but other facts most people don’t know are helping us immensely.

Extra-planetary help

At this time of transition from one astronomical cycle to the next—from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius—we, humanity, are at a critical point in our evolutionary journey. We’re about to make a giant leap from thinking we’re mere physical beings, to the understanding that we’re all sparks of the one Divine energy we call God, and therefore brothers and sisters of one family, no matter our race, religion, or nationality.

Because we’re at such a critical choice point between business as usual—which would lead to the destruction of all life on Earth—and spiritual transformation, our Space Brothers and Sisters from other planets in our solar system have been visiting Earth in the thousands in recent years, to help us in any way possible. But because they exist on the etheric-physical and not the dense physical, we can’t see their ships (UFOs)—unless they deliberately lower their vibration to come within our visual range.

Regarding nuclear radiation, we owe them a tremendous debt. Our space visitors have the technology to neutralize it, and a primary reason for their presence here in recent years is to neutralize as much radiation from our nuclear reactors and tests as possible under karmic law. Without this service, our planet would be uninhabitable.

Clearly, nuclear radiation is causing us more trouble than we know, but our space visitors will help until we learn to make better choices.

To assist in our learning, Maitreya, the World Teacher for this age, and his group, the Masters of Wisdom, are also here now and will soon appear publicly. They’ll inspire us to reject nuclear energy, abolish war, and share the Earth’s resources equitably among all nations. If we accept their advice, we’ll create a just, peaceful, and safe home for Earth’s human family and all other life forms.

Connecting the Dots between Spiritual Paths

If you’re reading this article, you’re almost certainly on a spiritual path — whether you’re searching for the teaching that fits you best, or practicing the principles of one you’ve already chosen. For most thinking people, the spiritual journey starts broad and shallow and ends narrow and deep. A good bit of time at first is usually spent investigating a wide variety of teachers, religions and philosophies, each of which will ultimately be rejected as a personal path because it fails to satisfy in some way. Intellectually-oriented folks, for example, may not be attracted to a teacher or path whose focus is devotional. Or the rules and agreements required by a specific path may not be acceptable to the personality.

Eventually, though — without fail, if we truly desire it — we are guided to a path that suits us perfectly, and the one we settle on depends a lot on our point of evolution, our ray structure, and the focus we’ve chosen for this lifetime. These factors and how we are affected by them are discussed in detail in the Ageless Wisdom teachings, a systematic and comprehensive account of the evolution of consciousness in Man and Nature, the origin and function of the universe, and humanity’s place within it.

Because the Ageless Wisdom teachings are the common foundation of all the world’s religions and therefore bridge and facilitate many paths, it’s useful to know something about them. They were first introduced to the West by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, who lived with and learned from ascended Masters in the Himalayas during the 1800s and wrote several books about her experience. Alice A. Bailey, Helena Roerich, and, in modern times, Benjamin Creme, have expanded upon and provided contemporary explanations of the teachings in their writings.

Briefly, according to the Ageless Wisdom, God is the sum total of all the Laws and all the energies governed by these Laws which make up everything in the manifested and unmanifested universe. We, in turn, are sparks of God — spiritual beings expressing ourselves through physical bodies. We are each essentially divine, but most of us recognize and demonstrate this divinity only to a limited degree.

The process by which we gradually manifest more of this divinity is rebirth (reincarnation). Like children entering the school system at kindergarten, we begin at a very basic level of human expression. Through the experiences of countless lifetimes in different countries and cultural and religious upbringings, in both male and female bodies, we learn the lessons of earth and proceed on our evolutionary journey back to our Source. The gains in each lifetime are carried over to the next.

The ‘method’ used in this educational system is the Law of Cause and Effect (or, in Eastern terms, karma) which the Bible would describe: “As you sow, so shall you reap.” In terms of modern physics, the law could be summarized as: “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” By understanding and working within this impersonal law, we learn to make better choices and gradually take control of our own destiny. Through experiencing all that life in this world has to offer, we ultimately acquire total mastery over ourselves and become perfected beings — Masters of Wisdom — fully manifesting the divinity that dwells in each of us.

So, the good news is that all roads lead to Rome, so to speak.

It’s been pointed out that all major religions contain the same fundamental teaching — “love thy neighbor as thyself” — though they each state it in slightly different ways. In the Ageless Wisdom, this would be part of the principle of Harmlessness. If we all practiced this single tenet consistently, we would be well on our way to Rome (our Source, or enlightenment, or union with our spiritual or higher self — our ultimate spiritual goal, however stated).

Another aspect of the Ageless Wisdom has special relevance for us today. Throughout history, it teaches, when humanity has reached a major point of crisis, the Spiritual Hierarchy (those who have achieved mastery and graduated from the earth school) has sent a Teacher to lead the way. This usually occurs at the change of an age — a process we’re now in the midst of, moving from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius. The Teacher brings humanity the lesson for its next evolutionary step, which will be learned and practiced in the age being inaugurated. Jesus was the great Teacher for the Age of Pisces, for example, and the lesson he both taught and embodied was Love. The lesson for the Age of Aquarius will be Right Human Relations, and the Teacher, Maitreya, the head of our planet’s Spiritual Hierarchy.

The coming of Maitreya was foreseen and written about by both Helena Blavatsky and Alice A. Bailey. In recent times, Benjamin Creme not only wrote about Maitreya’s emergence, but spent over 35 years of his life traveling around the world speaking to rapt audiences about this momentous event, which he says is happening now. According to Creme, all the world’s religions are expecting a great Teacher, though under different names. The Christians expect the reappearance of Christ, the Hindus await Krishna’s return, the Jews are still waiting for the Messiah, Muslims anticipate the Imam Mahdi, and the expected Buddhist teacher is Maitreya Buddha. As the World Teacher for all humanity, Maitreya fulfills all these expectations.

Creme says Maitreya has been among us since July 1977 working behind the scenes, and is gradually emerging into public awareness. Though he is not yet being identified as Maitreya, he speaks about brotherhood, cooperation, and sharing the world’s resources more equitably — the basis of Right Human Relations. He will be accompanied during this age by about 40 other Masters of Wisdom in his group, who will all be walking among us, living, teaching, and inspiring the changes we must make to salvage the planet and continue our evolutionary growth.

This doesn’t mean, though, that we’ll be expected to give up our individual paths and take up a new religion. On the contrary, Maitreya will encourage us to follow the path we’re on and be the best Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, or whatever, that we can be. He will show us how, working together as one, we can stop our race toward economic, social, and environmental disaster and remake our world into a virtual paradise for all humanity — a joyful spiritual journey we’ll all be taking together.

A New Story for Humanity

For as long as humans have been talking to each other, stories and myths have been important ways for us to understand and explain the world around us. Why would that be? Joseph Campbell, best known for his work in comparative mythology and religion, believed that all humanity is united psychically, and that behind the phenomenal world is an eternal source animating every human experience. He posited that the only way to speak of that great invisible force is through the metaphors found in myths. Indeed, he felt that all myths could in actuality be reduced to one overarching story – what he calls The Hero’s Journey: a tale of a man or woman who, through great suffering, achieves an experience of the eternal source and returns with knowledge and gifts that can free others.

Campbell divided the stages of the Hero’s Journey into several parts: Call to Adventure, Receiving Supernatural Aid, Meeting with the Goddess/Atonement with the Father, and Return. Some myths focus only on a part of the journey, and they all vary with the social structures and environmental challenges in different cultures. In nearly all cases, though, they are used as metaphors for spiritual truths that cannot easily be put into words.

The effect of the “deus ex machina” on Greek audiences was an immediate emotional response of wonder and astonishment, which would often add to the moral effect of the drama. The Bible is also full of stories of divine aid. Consider Noah, who was warned by God that there was going to be a flood, and that he should build an ark in preparation, filling it with two of every species of animal and fowl. The flood came, of course, and Noah and his charges were saved. And then there was Jonah, who was swallowed by a whale when he tried to escape doing God’s will and was ultimately thrown up onto dry land and given another chance to serve. In another story, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three Hebrew men in Babylon who refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image, were punished by being thrown into a fiery furnace. When they were protected by God and walked out completely untouched by the flames, the king decreed that anyone speaking against their god would be destroyed.

When the Hebrews, who had been enslaved in Egypt, were released by their Pharaoh after God visited devastating plagues upon Egypt, the Pharaoh changed his mind about freeing his slave labor and sent his chariots and army in pursuit. The Hebrews, trapped between mountains on one side and the Red Sea in front, were terrified, but an angel in a pillar of cloud came between them and the army, confusing and slowing them down. Then God caused a wind to blow that parted the sea so they could walk across. When they reached the other side safely with the army again charging after them, God commanded Moses to lift his arm, and the sea rushed back in, covering the chariots, horses and army.

Other religions include stories of divine assistance, too. Hindu myths include the ocean allowing a floating bridge to be built on its surface to let the armies of Lord Rama cross; another tells of many averted attempts to kill the child Prahlada—an ardent devotee of Vishnu—by fire, trampling by elephants, etc. According to Hindu belief, Vishnu has incarnated on Earth at least nine times to destroy evil and restore justice in the world, and the tenth incarnation, as Kalki avatar, is expected in the future.

Aztec mythology tells us that Quetzalcoatl was the son of the earth goddess Coatlicue, and that he and three brother gods created the sun, the heavens, and the earth. But he alone created humans, and helped them in many ways. He taught them astronomy, calendar making, various crafts, and the cultivation of maize, which became the staple food in Mexico. Therefore, he was the bringer of not only life, but civilization.

So what is the significance of all these stories? Should they be taken as actual facts, or merely as metaphors? Well, that depends. My theory is that in ancient times, when humans were less evolved and relatively uneducated, the stories served as metaphors to illustrate the spiritual realities behind them, or as lessons in how to correctly relate to the divine. Some, perhaps many, may have had a basis in fact.

In recent times, however – beginning with Helena Blavatsky’s books about her experiences living with the Masters of Wisdom in the Himalayas, and Alice A. Bailey’s transcribed volumes from the Master D.K. on the nature of reality – a more evolved humanity has been educated about the unseen world and how it operates. Therefore, we can now be told directly things that could only be understood through myths and legends in past centuries.

The Greeks wisely understood that the divine comes to help when things get really tough for humanity and wrote plays about it, but they didn’t know any of the back story. We, however, know through the Ageless Wisdom teachings that a group of advanced beings – not gods, but perfected agents of what we could call God – oversee the evolution of our planet and all life on it. At certain prescribed times, and when humanity finds itself in crisis beyond its ability to cope, one or more of these perfected beings enters the everyday world to offer new teachings and assistance. That is where we are today .

As in the Greek tragedies, we are gradually awakening to the realization that our civilization has backed itself into a corner we can’t easily get out of and that we really need a “deus ex machina.” Fortunately for us, that precise help has come.

A number of these perfected beings, or Masters of Wisdom as they are called, are even now entering our world. At their head is the Master of all the Masters, whose personal name is Maitreya. His coming was foretold by the Buddha: 2,500 years ago, Gautama Buddha made a prophecy that at this time would come another great Teacher, a Buddha like himself, Maitreya by name, who would inspire humanity to create a new and brilliant, golden civilization based on righteousness and truth.

Maitreya has come to bring the new teaching for the Age of Aquarius – right human relations – and to show us how to apply it in every human endeavor, from politics, to education, to economics. Equitable sharing of the world’s food and resources will be the centerpiece of Maitreya’s curriculum. With his guidance and the assistance of other Masters who have come with him, we will transform every aspect of human life so that there is no more hunger, or war, or homelessness, and every person is recognized and treated as an equal spark of the divine.

Who exactly are these Masters? In The Ageless Wisdom Teaching, British author Benjamin Creme describes their relationship to us: “They are our elder brothers. They have gone ahead of us, and having finished the evolution on which we are still engaged, have taken upon themselves the responsibility of overseeing our evolution. They know the way, the hazards, the possibilities. They know the steps which are the best to take, because there are many blind alleys, many pitfalls on the path, and they teach the correct way. The correct way is the way of selflessness, lack of ego. This is the hard way. It is slow because we are all so egotistical.”

“Maitreya will give a short history of the long history of the world, and show the height from which humanity has fallen into the materialism of today. He will introduce the fact of his group, the Spiritual Hierarchy of Masters. He will show the future, and outline some of the extraordinary scientific marvels that will open up new life for humanity. He will make his appeal for justice, for sharing as the only way to justice, and so to peace in the world.”

How will humanity respond to Maitreya’s appearance and message? In articles from Share International magazine and republished in A Master Speaks, Benjamin Creme’s Master says, “The future holds for man unbelievable promise. From the Day of Declaration will begin a process which will transform the world, and take men to the highest level of achievement.

“Never before will men have heard the call to their divinity, the challenge to their presence here on Earth. Each, singly, and solemnly alone, will know for that time the purpose and meaning of their lives, will experience anew the grace of childhood, the purity of aspiration cleansed of self. …

“Many will know for the first time that they count, that they matter in the scheme of things. An unfamiliar sense of self - esteem will replace their present hopelessness. ... Soon, however, men will realize that the changes needed in the world are vast, manifold, requiring patience and dedication, imagination and trust. Before long, men everywhere will engage themselves in the work of reconstruction, the rehabilitation of the world.

“Changes, unequalled in extent, will engage men’s minds and hearts; naught but the finest of the past will prevail against the onslaught of the new. ... A new world will be constructed in the blazing light of day. All will, in their way, participate; each will add his vision and contribute to the whole.”

So we are going to have our “deus ex machina,” but we will have to choose which future we want – business as usual, which will lead only to destruction, or sharing and justice, which will propel us into a completely new, advanced civilization. Maitreya will make our two options very clear, and if we decide to take his advice, he will provide the blueprints and guidance we will need to restore the planet and transform our institutions. However, he will only advise. It will be up to us to lay every brick of the new edifice.

Will we do it? Will we choose correctly and salvage our world? Maitreya has said that he knows our choice already, because he can see the heart of humanity and finds it sound. Still, we must make the choice consciously. And unlike centuries past, this unprecedented time will be our opportunity not just to be saved by a “god from a machine,” but to work creatively with our modern “gods” – Maitrey a and his group of Masters – to write an entirely new story for humanity and complete our collective Hero’s Journey.

Hope and Action: Antidotes to Despair

For more than two years the world has been dealing with a host of negative effects from an incredibly destructive “agent of change”: the coronavirus. For over two months another crisis – the war in Ukraine – has grabbed the headlines and our hearts. Horrific things happen every day on this planet, but they usually affect other people elsewhere. COVID-19, however, has reached anyone, anywhere, upending our lives in a multitude of ways. The war is taking the greatest toll on the people of Ukraine, but there are also consequences to other countries and new tensions that worry everyone. All of this occupies our thoughts and emotions daily.

That so many people are getting the message is an incredibly hopeful sign. The pandemic is seeing neighbors helping each other more; service organizations expanding their roles and methods; scientific organizations around the world sharing their research findings on new treatments and vaccines. The war has stimulated untold prayers to our Higher Power, and extraordinary acts of support for the refugees has been offered across Europe and elsewhere. What would happen if this behavior were to continue? Could it lead to treating a recovering planet as a global village and its citizens as the one human family it is? It would take time, but we can start by demanding of our “leaders” that we all push the reset button and begin to move in that direction!

Fortunately, at this very time, a little-known cosmic event is also taking place. As we move into the Aquarian age, characterized by energies of synthesis, unity and cooperation, the spiritual custodians of human evolution—the Masters of Wisdom—have once again sent one of their great ones into the world to act as a teacher for the coming time. Some of the past teachers we know as Confucius, Krishna, Buddha, the Christ and Mohammed. Major world religions all expect another great teacher at some future time, and his imminent appearance has been foreseen by some writers since the late 1800s.

We may very well need to actually look into the abyss before we collectively realize the need to change our ways. Allowing us to see the consequences and choose rightly may be an educational strategy familiar to parents! And yet, we have been told by the Masters that the end is known from the beginning; that all will be well. That is an unparalleled basis for hope.

Selfless service is the key—to both global salvation and personal sanity. Every single effort — of any size — sends a message to the Masters that we are now willing partners who can work alongside them in the reconstruction of our world. Since today’s crises encompass virtually every part of our lives, opportunities for service abound. So, as quickly as possible, take action: find the need closest to your heart and give it all you’ve got!

The Time of Change has Come

That we live in perilous and unpredictable times cannot be denied. While the daily news may not adequately reflect the precarious state of the world, reports from organizations that track global trends tell us that we stand now at a planetary crisis point – politically, economically, socially, and environmentally. Our current trajectory is toward disaster.

This would be frightening were it not for the fact that we are also standing at the beginning of an extraordinary period in the history of the world. Certain little known cosmic events occurring now strongly suggest that humanity will not only survive these trying times, but will in fact make a 180 degree turn, to create a golden age that will rival any preceding it.

What, specifically, is our current reality in a nutshell? Politically, with the United States taking the lead in pursuing new types of nuclear weapons, we are reentering a time of unrestrained weapons development and the threat to world peace this entails—if we survive. Economically, the gap between the exorbitant wealth of the developed world and the absolute poverty of the developing world is the widest it has ever been, and is growing rapidly. Our social fabric is disintegrating as we reel from the effects of crime and violence, regional conflicts, dislocation, economic failure, drug addiction, disease pandemics, natural disasters, and terrorism. Millions of people—mostly in poor countries— are without food, adequate shelter, even minimal health care, and primary education. We have poisoned our air, water, and soil to the degree that our own life support system is endangered.

On the other hand, over the past two decades we have seen a miraculous series of unexpected and unlikely events unfold on the world scene—from the voluntary dissolution of the former Soviet Union and the destruction of the Berlin Wall, to the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of apartheid in South Africa. These changes marked the end of political totalitarianism in major portions of the world, and in other places the fight for self-determination continues. The voice of the people has become increasingly loud and strident, demanding freedom from oppression, repression and injustice: we’ve had Occupy Wall Street, the Arab Spring, and the Spanish Podemos movement. Demonstrators converge at every meeting of international financial institutions to demand fairness in the conduct of international trade and finance. And thousands of private charitable organizations have mushroomed to help meet the needs of the poorest of the poor not addressed by governmental aid programs.

What is the explanation for these two simultaneous and opposing trends? According to Benjamin Creme, chief editor of Share International magazine and the author of 16 books on the Ageless Wisdom Teachings, they are the reflection of a great shift in consciousness taking place within humanity as we leave one planetary cycle and enter another. At the beginning of a new ‘age’, he says, new energies and forces streaming into the world conflict with those currently at play. In scientific terms, this has to do with the movement of our solar system around the heavens in relation to the twelve constellations of our zodiac. Our sun makes a journey in relation to these constellations taking almost 26,000 years to complete. About every 2,150 years, our sun comes into a particular energetic relationship with each of the constellations in turn. During the time we are in alignment with a particular constellation, we are influenced by the cosmic energies streaming from it, and said to be in the corresponding ‘age’.

For approximately 2,000 years we have been in alignment with Pisces—or in the Age of Pisces—and our present civilization has developed in response to its energies. Two qualities of Pisces are individuality and devotion to an ideal, but in our expression of these qualities we have tended to cling to our own ideals at the expense of all others. This has created serious divisions in the world—political, economic and religious—and violent confrontations between those holding different points of view. However, the sun has now moved away from the influence of Pisces, and is coming into alignment with the constellation Aquarius. The incoming energies of Aquarius carry the quality of synthesis, and oppose the separative, outgoing energies of Pisces. During the transition between the ages, friction and conflict is almost inevitable; however as the energies of Aquarius become more predominant, greater unity and cooperation will be seen.

Fortunately for humanity, another little known cosmic event is taking place in concert with the shifting planetary cycles. At the beginning of each age, the spiritual custodians of human evolution send one of their great ones into the world to act as a teacher for the coming time. Some of these we have known historically as Confucius, Krishna, Buddha, the Christ, and Mohammed. Major world religions all expect another great teacher at some future time, and his imminent appearance has been foreseen by some writers since the early 1800s. The books of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, first introduced the fact of our spiritual mentors to the western world, and those of Alice A. Bailey predicted the reappearance of a great teacher around the turn of the century. The contemporary books and lectures of British artist and esotericist Benjamin Creme indicate that he is here now—and has been since July, 1977. Creme maintains that the teacher’s personal name is Maitreya, and that his work behind the scenes has influenced many of the extraordinary political changes that have taken place since he arrived. Reportedly, we can expect to see Maitreya in an international press conference very soon.

But there are even wider ramifications for humanity as we teeter between the energetic influences of Pisces and Aquarius. The presence of Maitreya and our current evolutionary point – on the cusp of graduating into a higher level of consciousness – have attracted the attention of our inter-planetary space brothers and sisters. They have come in the thousands from other planets in our solar system to support, assist in any way possible, and watch our transformation.

The very existence of Unidentified Flying Objects, or UFOs, has been a topic of debate for decades, and governments have been loath to share what they know with the public. In recent years, however, several countries – including the U.K., Canada, Brazil, France, and the U.S. – have opened at least some of their UFO files for public scrutiny. And numerous credible voices have either spoken out previously or are speaking out now about the presence of extraterrestrials on Earth.

Roscoe Hillenkoetter – Vice Admiral in the U.S. Navy, CIA director from 1947 – 1950, and a member of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena from 1957-1962 – has stated, “It is time for the truth to be brought out in open Congressional hearings…Behind the scenes, highranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense….” (New York Times, Feb 28, 1960) Mikhail Gorbachev, past president of the USSR, says, “The phenomenon of UFOs does exist, and it must be treated seriously.” (Soviet Youth interview, May 4, 1990)

U.S. Air Force Colonel and astronaut Gordon Cooper, in a recent interview with the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (www.CSETI.org), reports seeing and photographing UFOs flying in formation beside his plane, and says that we need a United Nations organization to coordinate all information and research on the UFO phenomenon.

Perhaps most pertinent to our current crises, The Right Honorable Paul Hellyer, Canada’s Minister of Defense from 1963-1968 and Vice Prime Minister from 1967-1969, states, “Decades ago, visitors from other planets warned us about where we were headed and offered to help. But instead we, or at least some of us, interpreted their visits as a threat, and decided to shoot first and ask questions after… The veil of secrecy must be lifted and it has to be lifted now, before it is too late.” (Speech, National Press Club, Washington DC, April 2008)

For example, when contactee Daniel Fry encountered space visitors in New Mexico in the 1940s, they told him: “With the lessons of the past constantly before our people, we have found it wise to always maintain the material values in proper relationship with the more important social and spiritual values. […] When the industries of your nations are released from the necessity of expending their time and energy to produce the means of war and destruction, they will then have the time and the energy to raise the standards of living of everyone on your earth to a point where there would be complete freedom from want. With freedom from want comes freedom from fear and your civilization would be safely past the critical point in its development.” (“To Men of Earth”, in The White Sands Incident, 1966)

Several contactees – including U. S. author George Adamski, Dutch businessman Stefan Denaerde (a pseudonym), Chilean author Enrique Barrios, and Howard Menger – have described the means of exchange on other planets, which has nothing to do with profit or competition, but is organized for the sole purpose of insuring that everyone has what they need. Adamski summarizes: “Their means of exchange is a commodity and service exchange system, without the use of money. All production is for the benefit of everyone, with each receiving according to their needs. And since no money is involved, there are no ‘rich’; there are no ‘poor’. But all share equally, working for the common good.” (Cosmic Science for the Promotion of Cosmic Principles and Truth – Questions and Answers, 1957-58).

Contactees report that there is little illness on other planets because the people live in harmony with one another, and no war. Cities – much smaller than ours – and housing complexes are laid out in circles, with open areas in the center for common use and recreation. They have no need of armed forces, police or government officials of any kind; no hospitals, prisons, or sanitariums. Everyone knows what his or her particular talent is, and they work at that job and love it. In growing food, they practice crop rotation, return some organic material to the earth for mulching and fertilizing, and give the land periodic rest. Pesticides and chemical fertilizers are unnecessary.

These are only hints of the kind of civilization we can create with the guidance and inspiration of the World Teacher and our space brothers. Fortunately, the shifting of planetary forces toward greater synthesis and the fact of wise and incorruptible leadership becoming available to humanity argue strongly for a positive future, despite the present chaos and confusion. We will be required to make a choice, however, as to which direction we wish to take—the divisive path of the past which leads only to destruction, or the path of cooperation and sharing which will create an unprecedented future of peace and prosperity. Maitreya will make the choices urgent and clear, and with this clarity we will surely choose to go forward into a new and better future.

A world of our dreams is possible

A snapshot of our current times is not pretty. We’re seeing severe flooding in Germany, China, India, Indonesia, parts of the U.S. and elsewhere. Wildfires are burning in Siberia, Greece, Canada, and most western states. A global pandemic has already killed over 4 million worldwide, and is on its third, deadly wave. The Amazon rainforest is no longer a vast carbon sink but a net emitter of carbon. Plastic waste islands the size of states are filling our oceans, while microplastics are polluting not only the oceans, but our air and soil, too. Over 272 million people have become migrants, because they’ve had to leave their homes due to violence, persecution, war, drought, and other consequences of climate change. We are losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the normal rate, with multiple extinctions every day. Economic inequality is at its most extreme in history. And the poor everywhere, as always, are impacted by these simultaneous disasters more and sooner than the wealthy.

It’s a grim picture, but the future doesn’t have to look this way. In fact, we can create a completely different, much improved reality that allows everyone to thrive, if we can just visualize it and then work together to bring it into being. However, this requires understanding that we are one human family living on a delicately balanced planet that demands our respect and consideration. If it is to continue supporting us, we must learn to live within its laws and limits.

To create the necessary vision of a better future, let’s imagine how our world could look 50 years from now, as foreseen by British author Benjamin Creme in his book Maitreya’s Mission, Volume Two.

The first thing we’ll notice is that there are no wars anywhere on the planet. The world’s people have completely given up the belief that war is a solution to any problem, and have instead decided to fulfill the promises enshrined in Article 25 of the U. N. Declaration of Human Rights. As a result, we see that hunger and poverty are also gone, as are the countless people living on urban streets and filling tents in massive refugee camps in the Middle East and elsewhere—the homeless.

Education, which had become tenuous for many children around the world, has taken pride of place as a central focus of governments. Children everywhere are enrolled in school at an early age and taught not only basic reading, writing, and arithmetic, but also instruction based on their true reality as souls in incarnation. Teaching is individualized, because each child’s evolutionary stage, their governing energies, and their past life experiences are taken into account. This produces a tailored curriculum to best prepare them to fulfill their potential in their current lifetimes.

Violence, crime, and drug use are no longer crises anywhere, and cities have been physically transformed. The worst areas of slums and decayed buildings have been replaced by urban parks and ordinary housing on a human scale, interspersed with well-appointed shopping areas. New buildings have different shapes from buildings of the past, and some of them by their shapes alone focus and accumulate particular beneficial energies. Beautiful pieces of art of all kinds grace public spaces, and advertising billboards are nowhere to be seen. Public transport has become so silent and apparently motionless that travelers no longer suffer from “travel fatigue.”

Individual citizens live much more simply, and the vast economic inequalities between the ultra-rich and everyone else have been greatly reduced. The majority live fulfilling lives, since most tedious, repetitive jobs are now performed by robots, and work hours have been radically shortened. Their plentiful leisure time is used to pursue creative interests and personal development, and participate in community and national governance.

People are living longer, and as a whole are healthy and vital. To address health issues, alternative approaches to medicine (homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal remedies, etc.) have moved from the sidelines to take their place beside more conventional methods. Scientists have learned to grow new organs from an ailing individual’s own cells, rather than having to transplant them from a donor. People do not fear death, but see it only as a transition into their next life experience.

Most farming is organically based, so food is healthier and more nutritious, and there is reverence for all manifestations of life—plant, animal, insect, marine, etc. Many species that were once on the brink of extinction have recovered and are thriving. The air is crisp and clear, and waters run clean. Concerns for nature and the environment have been embodied in universally accepted legislation, and all nations now engage in the wise husbandry of nature’s gifts. Global greenhouse gas emissions have subsided because the world’s people are now using a safe form of energy, available to everyone freely, and fossil fuels are not being burned.

Social democracy has become the world’s political/economic norm, and political groups gravitate toward the center rather than right/left extremes. The United Nations has realized its original purpose as the central governing forum for all nations, since the disbanding of the Security Council now allows every country a say in decision-making. With that change, the U.N. can no longer be held hostage by any powerful nation’s veto, and global issues—from exploration of the seabed to space satellite oversight—are now freely debated and governed by international law.

Now, looking backward from that vision, what exactly happened in 50 years to bring these astonishing changes about? Well, several simultaneous events both woke us up and helped us put new ideas into action.

Most fundamentally, we felt the growing influence of the Aquarian energies of cooperation, brotherhood, and synthesis that started streaming into the planet around 1675. For the previous 2,000 years or so, we had been steeped in the energies of Pisces, which are all about individuality and devotion to a cause (my cause, though, not yours). Piscean energies had taught us essential lessons, but eventually led to division and strife among cultures, nationalities, races, religions, political parties and even sexual orientations. This gradual transition from Piscean to Aquarian influence is an astronomical fact related to how our solar system progresses around the heavens, coming into alignment with a different zodiacal sign about every 2,500 years. The closer we came to the constellation Aquarius, the more we were stimulated to create inclusive and just ways of living—and we did!

A second major event, largely hidden for many years, amplified the planetary shift from a Piscean to Aquarian orientation: the public appearance in our everyday world of the custodians of Earth’s evolutionary plan. Known as the Masters of Wisdom, among other names, they constitute our planet’s Spiritual Hierarchy. At their head is the World Teacher for our age—Maitreya—who since 1977 had been working behind the scenes with political leaders and others to help us until his “Day of Declaration,” as it came to be known.

On that day, which began his open, public work, Maitreya spoke to all of humanity simultaneously, telepathically, introducing himself and his group, and told us that he had come in response to our calls for help. He explained our divine origins as spiritual beings, how we had gotten desperately lost in materialism, and the momentous choice we would have to make in order to save the planet and ourselves. Hundreds of thousands of healings took place around the world as he spoke, and people “walked on tiptoe” for awhile afterward, in wonder at the new revelation they had witnessed.

However, not all were pleased with his message—that we must choose to share the world’s resources more equitably among all peoples if we are to survive—and so the past divisions, especially between the very rich and poorer classes, threatened to take us back to past conflicts. But fortunately, the voice of the people, unified, strengthened, and galvanized by the World Teacher, proved to be stronger than the whining of those fighting to preserve their privilege and power. Gradually, professional politicians were voted out of office, and true representatives of the people arose from every walk of life, ran for office, and won! Many of these were younger folks, who had been born under the Aquarian influence and had felt stifled by the Piscean institutions created by their elders. They had finally found their purpose.

Another major revelation that took place on the Day of Declaration was not totally unexpected, but had a tremendous impact on our lives—Maitreya’s introduction of our Space Brothers and Sisters. Many of us had become aware of UFOs because their appearance in our skies had become so frequent that the U.S. government had felt compelled to release a report on them in 2021. It only covered encounters recorded over twenty years, though—and we learned later that UFOs had been visiting our planet for millennia. The report concluded that the UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, as they renamed them) could not be explained by any known Earth technology, and called them national security threats. The government plan had been to create fear of the UFOs, to keep us from paying attention to messages from our space visitors that were shared in books and lectures by contactees in the 1950s. We paid attention anyway.

Those messages, given to people like George Adamski, Giorgio Dibitonto, Wilbert Smith and others, universally stated that we are all part of an interconnected, interdependent whole making up all of Cosmos. Therefore, we are all brothers and sisters, irrespective of outer appearances, and are dependent on one another for our very survival as well as our ability to grow and thrive. The space visitors the contactees met, who were clearly living by these principles, were without exception not only harmless, but wished to help us in any way possible.

And help us they did. After we collectively agreed to give up war forever, our space visitors used their advanced technology to neutralize the rest of the nuclear radiation we had been emitting for decades from our nuclear power plants and weapons tests. They had been performing this service since our first nuclear testing began, within the limits of karmic law, but now, with our new decision, they could complete the task. We learned that the most damaging nuclear radiation was on the etheric plane—a finer plane of physical reality above gases—which is the plane on which the space visitors normally exist. Our scientists until that time had been ignorant of these subtler planes and therefore were unaware of the danger.

Working with the World Teacher and his group, our Space Brothers and Sisters also established the foundations for the Technology of Light, in which energy from the sun, combined with energy from the Earth’s magnetic field, would provide free, limitless energy for all human needs. We had observed the beautiful crop circles around the world for years, but now understood their major purpose: replicating the planet’s magnetic field on the dense-physical plane as part of a new energy grid. This technology, of course, made the burning of fossil fuels obsolete, and led to huge improvements in the environment.

Too, as a program for sharing the world’s resources was being established—which soon eliminated hunger and poverty—the World Teacher had urged action on the environment, and restoration of the planet became the number one priority for all people. Ideas seeded into Earth’s mindbelt long before and picked up and practiced in only a few places suddenly spread like wildfire through a newly receptive humanity. The media did their part by engaging in a friendly competition among themselves to be the first to report new developments in the construction of a new world.

Programs to regenerate soils and forests, clean up plastic pollution, protect terrestrial and marine wildlife, spread the practice of organic farming, and many others were undertaken everywhere, and a major transformation gradually took place as nature healed.

And that’s the story of how planet Earth came to be the paradise it was always meant to be.

At this point in our current experience on the planet, during a time of fluctuating global pandemic and social unrest, we are confronting the fact of our interconnectedness—personal and public. With ubiquitous job losses, individuals have had to rely on each other and their communities for food and supplies to feed and clothe themselves and their families. Governments have been almost forced to share medical knowledge, medicines, vaccines, and equipment for the immediate and future survival of their populations. Economies have been fractured and are severely challenged by the widespread quarantine, lockdowns, and protests; as a result, business activity has been significantly damaged.

Protests of varying origins are happening in many countries—in Palestine, Israel, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Algeria, India, Burma, Belarus, Hong Kong, France, Ukraine, the USA, and elsewhere.

Such protests are giving an ongoing voice to world public opinion—the voice of the people, as it stands up to governments, which are protecting corporate interests and boosting military readiness inordinately with public funds. The protests are also efforts to end oppressive taxes, restriction of movement, restriction of individual rights, and the outright accosting and killing of people in the street by brutal policing—reminiscent of the fugitive slave and vigilante patrols of the pre-and post-U.S. civil war eras. In some countries, assassinations and disappearances are commonplace.

Through these happenings occurring every day, we are compelled to face our blindness to the signs of interconnectedness and interdependence developing in every aspect of life in our world family (the sacrificing of fear for trust and love). These signs are almost completely overshadowed by “breaking news” (fear again overtaking trust and love). In spite of that, we may ask, how can we change outcomes for 95% of the people who experience loss and suffering, 60% of them to a severe degree?

The question then becomes: what if everyone had access to free food and clothing, had subsidies to obtain and retain housing, and were able to freely petition national governments for the redress of grievances without a harmful military response? What if Universal Basic Income were available to everyone? UBI has been mentioned in the United States Congress and provided in Stockton, CA; Evanston, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Jackson, MS, and in Alaska. It is also used in Finland, the Netherlands, Italy, Scotland, France, Uganda, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Israel, Iran, India, and other countries.

Separation and Complacency

We are slowly but surely working through the issues that divide us and are gradually implementing solutions, but we are often stopped by the “elephant” in the room: the belief in separation upon which complacency is based.

Separation denotes distinction, difference, differentiation, division, dissociation, disconnection, severance. It is at the root of human ,problems such as racial bias and segregation, among others, and is viewed as a crime or heresy by advanced thinkers, who see the idea that we are separate as the cause of spiritual angst and as responsible for the pain and suffering of others. Complacency follows from the belief in separation, produces inaction in the face of misery, empowers implicit bias, and allows injustice and cruelty to remain unchecked in the world.

The information about separation and its connection to complacency comes from the work of Benjamin Creme (1922-2016), a visionary, artist, lecturer, and author. He talked about the presence in the world of Maitreya and the Masters of Wisdom—though not yet known publicly—who are here to guide and assist us in solving our most intractable problems. He telepathically received messages from Maitreya, and articles from another Master whose name has not been given. Their statements are bold and clear and never as relevant as now, to current world events.

The belief in separation has been generated by patterns of living that we have chosen over time. These patterns have set up strong conditioning, which has been passed on generation after generation for millennia. This conditioning affects our reaction to and judgmentof other people and groups by color, gender, appearance, religion, wealth, heritage, and nationality. Thus, traditions of focusing on the differences among us have become institutionalized—in general, to promote economic gain: rich vs. poor, black vs. white, male vs. female, documented vs. undocumented. But the trend of separation and resulting complacency has become destructive for the world. Racism is said to be about complete separation from Divinity and total ignorance of oneself. Benjamin Creme postulates that fear of the other, fear of ourselves, and fear of death ¹ keep us blind to our Oneness.

Self-Respect and Self-Realization

Maitreya, as the World Teacher for the new age, tells us that the way forward is through the Art of Self-Realization, which he comes to teach:

Be what you are, the immortal Self.
Don’t cheat yourself. Respect yourself.
See your neighbor as yourself, because he is yourself.
Be harmless as ordained by the law of cause and effect (karma).
We can change the effect if we alter the cause through sacrifice.
Adopt honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit, and detachment.

“You have physical eyes. You can see what is good and what is bad, what is pleasant or harmful. When you practice honesty, sincerity, and detachment, awareness grows. You can experience peace, grace, happiness, serenity. This is so even when everything around you is totally negative.” ²

For the Future

Maitreya outlines his work this way: “My task will be to show you how to live together peacefully as brothers.” ³ Benjamin Creme said, “The Masters, with Maitreya at their head, have provided a blueprint for the future of a brilliant, transformed world free from want and war.” ¹

The admonishment is to feed the hungry, house the houseless, clothe and educate everyone, provide health care for all, and provide security in disability and in advanced years. These basic human rights were adopted by the United Nations in 1948 as Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; however, they have been actualized to some degree only by some Scandinavian countries. Among theseare Norway and Sweden.

Maitreya exhorts us to “Manifest Love through Sharing and change the world.” ³ In another direct way, Maitreya says: “Think widely. Think that your brothers and sisters are yourselves, the same throughout the world no matter the color, the race, the religion. Do this my friends and see Me very soon.” ⁴

Benjamin Creme has underlined the idea that:

“The people have to make their demands known and act. You have to act. If we want the process of sharing, we have to force the governments to accept it. … when every day there is a march, thousands, hundreds of thousands of people who fill the squares and the streets of the towns and refuse to move, then they can force the hand of any government.” ⁵ Maitreya advises us, “Wait no longer for the manifestation of the changes which are to come. Bring them about by your actions.” ⁴ Maitreya, the teacher for the new age, with his group, having worked behind the scenes for the last 98,000 years, will at some point soon emerge into public life. He will then work openly with us to finally end separation and war, to cleanse us of guilt and fear, to restore goodwill and trust, and to help us proceed with all due speed to build the new structures needed now, based on sharing and justice.

The Master says: “There is no alternative to sharing, all else has failed. … A united voice of the people of all lands calling for justice and sharing will set up an invocation which nothing can resist.” ⁶ To show our committed intent to reach that goal, much of the work must be started immediately. To that end, it would help to envision how society could meet the needs of all on the ground, and start there, working in groups. Examples of needed changes might be free food banks in brick and mortar; adequate, safe, free housing; free health clinics restored and multiplied; free 100% broadband network availability; free laptops and software available everywhere for schooling, reference and connection; plenty of childcare centers, widespread after-school programs, and visiting teacher sessions; and most importantly, lifelong guaranteed income, starting at $100,000/year or more provided to every person; plus rapid environmental restoration.

There will be funds available for all these programs when governmental policies are put in place to assure that the welfare of the people is prioritized before corporate profit and military expense. (Satisfied people may significantly reduce the need for excessive military outlay.) The Master indicates that: “men have to realize that the world is One— one humanity. The rich, who manage the resources based on greed and competition, deny this truth at their peril.” ⁴

Maitreya states, “My teaching should precede my presence and prepare my way… When mankind is somewhat prepared, my voice shall be heard.… but first I would point the way into the new direction which man, if he would survive, must take.... men must see themselves as brothers… must share the produce of this most bountiful of worlds among your brothers and sisters everywhere. … you must make the choice—whether you share and learn to live peacefully as true men, or perish utterly…” ³ He adds, “All depends on you: you have to take the steps… We have to see ourselves as One, brothers and sisters, and work together for the good of all. We are not separate, despite appearances. We are one group. … Live simply and with love.” ⁴

Benjamin Creme tells us plainly: “People should understand that the Day of Declaration—the day when Maitreya steps forward—is not a fixed date; it depends on us. We can bring it about through our work.” ⁷

When we accept our interconnectedness as a world family, we will realize the mutual interdependence of nations as a fact of life on Earth—and by providing for the needs of everyone through sharing, secure our future. Our courage and tenacity in every effort we make toward this goal is supported by towering spiritual giants who “see the end in the beginning” and who must await our action.

“Seize the time and act.” ⁷

The Sword of Cleavage Swings Out Loud

The sword stands as one of humanity’s greatest friends and foes. For many centuries it has been a useful tool that has kept civilizations alive and many times prosperous, it has been wielded by heroes and villains. The sword has been drawn by mortals in documented history, and by Angels and Gods on both sides of the battlefield in the many epic battles of our collective memories and imagination. The sword has saved many lives and has been the means for a transition into the afterlife. The sword as a symbol has been incorporated into national flags, banners, coats of arms, and many other emblems.

Humanity has been relying on the advantages that a sword brings to its survival, for that reason, it has made its presence in many myths and traditions, symbolizing concepts and ideas that have no limit but that of the imagination. It communicates both tangible concepts, and the subtle ones of the intuition. Such concepts have been kept alive by historical facts taught at institutions and transmitted via the spoken word and written interpretations.

The sword yields tremendous power, and as a spiritual weapon, it has been used by those worthy of its eternal might. As the legend of Excalibur told us, a sword that yields tremendous power waits patiently for the anointed warrior to rightly pull it out of its dormant state.

The time has come for such a Sword to move into the stage of human history, the time is right for such a Warrior to wield the Sword and release its eternal might into the world.

We know this sword as the Sword of Cleavage , we know the warrior’s name, he is Maitreya , “The benevolent companion”, “The Joyful, Friendly one”, “The Prince of Peace”.

The Sword of Cleave is an Energy, it is the manifestation of an aspect of Divinity, the out pour of a Divine Energy, that of the Love of the Logos (God, the Word). When this Energy is released, it cuts through the fog of illusion and brings Truth to the Light, it dispels illusion. This Energy is continuously released until the work is completed.

Maitreya releases such Energy

The Sword of Cleave is swift and subtle, it cuts without being noticed, life goes on without being aware that the Sword has been drawn and its Energy released, most of us will go on unaware of the new incoming force, life will “seem” the same until its manifestations are upon us, until the form begins to break down and fall apart.

One of the most powerful and noticeable consequences of the Energy of the Sword is that of polarization. Polarization is defined as:

“…a concept that comes from science, and it involves light, radiation, or magnetism moving in specific directions. Outside science, polarization usually refers to how people think, especially when two views emerge that drive people apart, kind of like two opposing magnets.”

In Esoteric terms it could best be described this way:

“Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything

has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same;

opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree;

extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes

may be reconciled.” The Kybalion

The Energy being released by the Sword brings about many reactions around the world. It energizes and empowers everything, thus pushing all pairs of opposites further apart, until, as the Kybalion states “all paradoxes may be reconciled.” The Sword of Cleavage is here to make it so, to push the pair of opposites until they reconcile. Thesis, antithesis, and synthesis in manifestation.

“The Sword of Cleavage is the energy we call Love: wielded by Maitreya it sets — brother against brother — and tests the true divine consciousness of men everywhere. The ultimate aim of all evolution is to establish on Earth the ‘Kingdom of God’, and the Sword of Cleavage shows men the way.” ~ A Master of Wisdom

Before that can be manifested, the opposing poles in every manifestation of human thought must continue moving further apart, until something breaks and opposites meet, then, a spark will be seen around the world. Such a breakdown of the world we thought we knew brings about tremendous energy for change. The sword swings upward, guiding the honest thoughts upward with it, empowering all, it will aid that which travels in the same direction, thus new ideas breakdown old concepts on their way upward, thus the new world begins to take form.

The Energy of Love is impersonal and impartial, it takes no sides, it just does the work. The Energy of Love is the creating force behind the cosmos.

“It is the magnetic, cohesive, attractive force of love which brings together the atoms of matter to create the building bricks of life.” ~ Benjamin Creme

Polarization has been happening around us for some time now, these days it has been traveling faster than before, opposing poles are out in the open and are constantly moving further apart, doing so abruptly and aloud, extreme points of view are manifesting themselves in a not so quiet way.

This breaking point should bring about right human relations. Humanity must wake up to the solution to the ills of polarization and separation; right human relations, and with that, sharing as the means to our survival and progress. We now have the opportunity to move away from the old ideas that have created an unjust world, one that is falling apart right in front of our eyes. We have a unique opportunity, never seen before, to create a new world built on top of great new paradigms, a new world built by fresh new concepts, aided by the wise voices of the Past. Not everything that is from our past should go, old values and discoveries can continue to penetrate our imagination and be part of the transformation.

Energies will continue to come in stronger by the day, they can only be put to right use in group formations. The Energy of Love, during this age of Aquarius, aids in the process of synthesis, a quality of the New Age. Groups can only progress together if their will and intentions are aligned with the Will of the Logos, and the Will of the Logos is to bring Spirit and matter closer and under the influence of Spiritual or Divine Will .

To fully understand right human relations, we need to have a different comprehension of time. We must view and interpret time as a relative concept. The current world situation, where we are required to alter our schedules and routines, and with no end in sight, provides an opportunity to explore the concept of time as we now see it in the western world; is there another way to look at it?

Benjamin Creme’s Master has given us a hint.

To this new world challenge, to this seemly impossible task, Maitreya comes and offers his Hand, He has done so before , and like the Sword he wields, He will offer his guiding Hand until the work is done, until the end of the age.

“Right human relations will free us from guilt and fear, will share the resources in the world, and create peace. Right human relations is a priority of humanity, and Maitreya will make that one of His major concerns. The laws of love mean right relationship. The laws of life mean right-thinking, right acting. When you get a combination of right acting, right-thinking, and goodwill, you have the kind of free, tolerant, harmless society to which we should be aiming.” (Benjamin Creme, Maitreya’s Mission Volume Three)

The pandemic and the Overton window

The ‘Overton window’ is a term describing the ideas that define the spectrum of acceptable government policies. If politicians are to succeed, their policies must remain within this range of public acceptance. In order for politicians to expand their policy reach, they must either develop new platforms within the existing Overton or the public must call for new policies with a voice loud enough for politicians to hear.

In his writings Benjamin Creme maintained that one day humanity would be brought face to face with a profound wilderness experience of significant depth and impact. “The wilderness experience, particularly for the West, is the acceptance of a simpler way of life, so that all people everywhere can live”, Creme said.

Arising out of this experience, the world’s governments would be put to the test to prioritize and meet the true needs of their people. While few expected a pandemic as the initiating cause of this wilderness experience, the economic collapse springing from the pandemic, and the response of the world’s governments, which has followed the crisis to date, is in line with Creme’s writings and lectures.

In April 2020, the Democratic Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, provided a glimpse into a fairer economic model for the people of the US by saying that Universal Basic Income might be worthy of consideration in the current economic environment. Speaker Pelosi is the most senior US politician ever to publicly voice such a revolutionary change in the US economic model. Prior to this, US presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders pushed numerous progressive, socialist ideas into the thinking process of American voters. These US-centric ideas parallel the Conservative government in the UK rushing to hand out money to businesses to cover 80 per cent of employee wages up to a sizable limit, taking a step that a Labour government could not even have imagined only a few months before.

These unprecedented proposals and steps into socialism are due, of course, to the economic misery wrought by the Covid19 pandemic. This has resulted in deep, structural damage to the global economy within a tightly compressed time frame (10 weeks), rivaling the losses in employment and the decline in economic activity that occurred over 10 years during the 1930s Great Depression. The depth and speed of “the economic damage is only just beginning,” according to Rabobank’s insightful economic analyst Michael Every, “and it is terrifying.”

Actions taken by governments to make capital owners whole in times of crisis have a significant history in the developed world. Equity holders are repeatedly bailed out through liquidity schemes orchestrated by global central banks whose actions, in times of economic crisis, routinely prioritize stock, bond, and real-estate markets above and before people. Many trillions of dollars have been made available in this century alone to support asset markets in the US, EU, Japan, and throughout the developed world.

In recent years China has joined in this asset levitation as well. These same countries occasionally provide limited amounts to the public if the crisis is seen to impact employment in a significant manner that would lead to mortgage, auto, and credit card defaults and take cash flow away from wealth holders. As many commentators have remarked, it is a global system where losses are socialized and profits privatized.

Since the 2007-09 Great Financial Crisis, the capital markets have, at times, ceased to be a “casino” system, as equity bets in the aggregate, during crises, are significantly covered by central banks at the expense of taxpayers, deficits, and future currency values. There still may be a casino nature to the success of individual companies but in crisis times the well-managed and poorly managed companies tend to be bailed out irrespective of management performance and competence. Those managements that borrowed heavily to engage in stock buybacks over the past 10 years placed their companies at great risk. Corporations who behaved this way, such as Boeing, are the recipients of substantial public resistance to the idea of using taxpayer money to bail out greedy, incompetent, self-centered management.

In their devotion to maximizing shareholder value, while simultaneously maximizing the value of their own stock options, management off-shored every possible expense and resource in order to squeeze the last dollar into reported earnings. It was the result of this cost squeeze throughout the corporate universe that such critical resources as medical tests, chemical reagents, masks, gowns, gloves, eye-protection, and hand sanitizer were nowhere to be found in domestic production. In most industrialized countries, virtually everything had been outsourced to the lowest cost producer in order to save pennies – but pennies multiplied over millions of items.

In the short space of two months, what became essential to governments, employers, and workers took on an entirely new meaning. Healthcare employees who work with Covid-19 patients became the most significant front line in the world in an unmatched global realization of what was suddenly most important – staying alive. The checkout person at the grocery store was thrust into this new battle, upgraded to essential status overnight, but was left without the needed protections while having to stand face to face with potentially infected customers and co-workers. These workers earn close to minimum wage, without paid sick leave, and have at best questionable and expensive health insurance.

Few essential workers, including frontline medical workers, could get tested for the Covid-19 virus. But news stories were full of professional sports teams having been tested, entertainment stars posting their results on online news and social media, and wealthy people and their entire neighborhoods having no trouble getting tested through private concierge medical services. Importantly, this state of affairs has not gone unnoticed by the newly valued essential workers. On May Day 2020, in a call for worker justice, a coalition of essential workers for Amazon, Instacart, Whole Foods (owned by Amazon), Walmart, Target, Shipt and FedEx, staged a walkout in order to demand higher wages, sick leave, and safe working conditions.

As a result of the pandemic, many people are awakening to a new reality. They are developing a clearer view of the situation and beginning to take a stand over the obvious unfairness they have experienced and which they see is putting their families at risk.

As a result of being thrust onto the front lines of a pandemic, it has been easier perhaps for essential US workers to quickly realize the unfairness of capitalism than it had been for them to overcome an entire life’s conditioning about the sanctity of market forces, including ideas of how a successful economic system must operate.

This new-found sense of self-worth is possible because of the release of past conditioning as their immediate, raw, brutal, pandemic experience is outside their previous experience and conditioning. They see it is not fair. They have no reason to accept that it was their fault, or to just accept it as it is without complaint, and they see more clearly how the wealthy benefit at their expense even while those same workers’ lives are placed at real risk. It appears likely that mental conditioning can be more easily overcome when faced with an existential threat – the possibility of dying.

Going forward, essential workers are unlikely to accept their lot without a substantial rethink, as they’ve experienced firsthand that they matter and that they matter a great deal. The same holds true of those who were required to shelter in place, to quarantine, for the greater good. They know this is not their fault, that they should not be evicted or have their home foreclosed upon or their car repossessed or forced into bankruptcy due to following what was necessary and required. As this idea dawns a space may be created that can tear down mental conditioning. “I’m essential.” “I did the highest thing so that others might live.” “Why should my family suffer because of that?”

At the present time it remains to be seen if the money printing techniques used by central banks during the 1987 stock-market crash, the bursting of the 2000 dot-com bubble, and the Great Financial Crisis of 2007- 09 will work once again in today’s highly interconnected and heavily indebted world. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is quickly demonstrating that many aspects of life prepandemic may take a long time to return to normal. Numerous economic analysts, whose careers have been devoted to understanding the global economy, have said that they do not expect many industries to be able to return to normal in less than two to eight years, depending on the industry. The Chief Investment Officer of JP Morgan Asset Management stated that it will take at least 12 years for employment to return to recent heights. Financier and hedge-fund leader George Soros, at 89 years of age, stated that this is the crisis of his lifetime.

Government policies and business operating plans will have to adjust to the new reality, recognizing that the pure globalization model with its failed and broken supply-chains puts companies, and people, at risk. It places profits above public safety, labor standards, living wages, citizen welfare and health, environmental standards, and the health of the Earth, which can now be seen in photographs of clear skies and unpolluted air.

Businesses, too, will need to rethink if maximizing profits is worth risking their future viability as they struggle to survive in these new times. Those without the ability to raise money in capital markets (stock and bond markets) will be under extreme pressure unless government bailouts are effective. Few market analysts expect less than significant economic difficulty before we can put it all behind us, and many of these analysts expect this downturn to rival or exceed the difficulties faced in the 1930s Great Depression. By many metrics we are already in a new Great Depression.

Global sales, profits, employment, capital investment, and tax revenue will remain under pressure well into the future. Formerly profitable businesses, such as aircraft manufacturing, airlines, hotels, lodging, auto makers, car rental, transportation, casinos, restaurants, and many others, will be forced to shrink their operations. Employment will suffer far longer than usual and increase the time spent in global recession/depression.

Essential businesses will be confronted with demands for higher wages, paid time off, and affordable healthcare, and this will occur against the backdrop of record unemployment, which may lead to a combustible confrontation between owners and labor. Business profit margins will be under pressure as a result of the pandemic, and supply chains will be brought closer to home, with less dependency on a single production country such as China. Businesses will spread their supply risk exposure across multiple platforms to insure against reliance on a single sourced provider. In the current pandemic there are no easy solutions and life will be altered far into the future, irrespective of how successful the first economic openings will be.

Is there anything that could soften the economic depression quickly? A widely available, safe and effective treatment regimen, or a successful vaccine widely administered, are the best opportunities to avoid a prolonged global depression. But even if one or both of these positive events are on the immediate horizon, the economic damage would still be beyond all past recessions. The recent peak in global GDP, adjusted for inflation going forward, will be difficult to achieve in the short to intermediate term due to the unprecedented destruction of both supply and demand throughout the world economy.

Developing economies are in for a particularly difficult time due to their reliance on the US dollar as well as their dependency on a robust and fully functioning Eurodollar market (Eurodollars are US dollars held outside the US banking system). With the steep drop in total economic activity, the supply of US dollars is sharply diminished globally, placing intense pressure on developing economies at the same time that commodity prices slump.

This double blow is the reason the International Monetary Fund is seeking to increase its lending capacity to $1 trillion to aid developing economies as the Fund hopes to expand its Special Drawing Rights. But President Trump’s administration is resisting and has so far opposed this plan. If this continues, it could be left to the US Federal Reserve and US Treasury to underwrite an almost unlimited amount of foreign government and foreign corporate US dollar debt, credit lines, and bank letters of credit, to stave off global collapse.

This unfortunate state of affairs would put the US in control of global economic activity far beyond its present influence, choosing which countries and corporations get funded. In this scenario the US government would get to pick international winners and losers. Countries such as China and Russia, with their sizable economies, would not wish to find themselves in the same boat as Iran, Venezuela or North Korea. For Russia, already under US sanctions, this idea must be particularly unappealing. It is an untenable situation for these politically and economically powerful countries possessing advanced military capabilities, and one can only imagine the range of policy options Russia and China might consider if this increased US dominance became reality. In short, problems coming to a head in the Eurodollar market over the last few quarters are sowing the seeds of another global crisis.

But world governments are still faced with the pandemic and have no idea how to proceed. They are lost, and co-operation is nowhere to be seen. The pressure to reopen and save economies is high and may lead to a prolonged series of openings and closings in response to new Covid-19 outbreaks. Social distancing has a negative effect on millions of business models, large and small. Regardless of how these first opening steps go, life may be disrupted for a very long time.

At the end of April 2020, JP Morgan Chase (JPM) released a report advising clients to ignore the message stock markets are sending and that the situation in the current pandemic economy is as bad as it appears to be. As the largest US bank JPM has the front-row seat to the economy and has already taken significant steps to protect itself by cutting off credit wherever it can, and changing its focus to originating loans that carry government backing while shunning most others. As developed world economies run on credit/debt, this is a bad sign. JPM commented, “These data are ugly, and are set to get much worse.”

The acknowledgement by wealth-holders of capitalism’s unfairness, its sharply increasing inequalities, and the realization by workers of their newly found value, provides the intellectual underpinning to politicians interested in effective change, and it provides workers with a fervent, powerful voice to demand a new approach to the existing relationship between land, labor and capital.

The Covid-19 pandemic has provided a sharp and dramatic adjustment to the Overton window. In less than two months the circumstances that influence public discourse have been radically altered. This is a unique moment in history and the window can open wide at the present time if people demand substantive change and are willing to hold politicians to account. If the public leads, politicians will propose policies thought to be unobtainable only a few months ago.

Powerful US politicians are articulating policies that until recently had been considered too extreme and radical, with no chance of implementation. But suddenly these policies are not only becoming acceptable within the public mind but are increasingly seen as necessary. The Covid-19 virus has affected the world deeply, and as a result many now recognize the need to adjust our political, economic and social systems. No country exemplifies this need as does the US, which collapsed under pandemic mismanagement, gutted by free-market ideology and the push for profit maximization at all costs. Now those costs are hitting home.

The Overton window has moved, and the voice of the people has never been as potentially influential as it could be now in shaping the policies that can take us out of economic depression. It is up to the public to describe that future, insist on it, vote for it, and allow us to leave behind a system that is little more than economic Darwinism, lacking as it does, thoughtfulness, vision, compassion and conscience.

The Wilderness Experience ... and Beyond

Author and futurist Benjamin Creme predicted that one day the world would inevitably undergo a profound wilderness experience, wherein humanity of necessity would accept and embrace a much simpler lifestyle. Creme said that while this experience was underway governments would be forced to meet the true needs of their people. These needs for life’s essentials are the same for people everywhere, for housing, food, healthcare, and education. At the present moment humanity at all levels is lost – government, business, workers, and the elderly -- with no one having a clear solution to the unexpectedly difficult problem at hand.

The Covid-19 pandemic appears unsolvable in the very near-term, but this situation has created a window of opportunity to rethink our approach to life. Do we, in the collective, really want to spend all of our time and energy being a tiny wheel in a system in which most people are little more than an underpaid resource, while wealth flows into fewer and fewer hands with each passing year? Millions of people struggle to maintain a basic lifestyle. Students, at the outset of their productive lives, graduate under heavy debt loads, having mortgaged their adult life to pay for a simple university education. For many others, numbering in the tens of millions, they lack affordable health care, child care, adequate housing, and a living wage. Food insecurity is on the rise in the US and this unfortunate and unnecessary situation has increased markedly with the arrival of the pandemic. It is a challenging time under the weight and pressure of unforgiving market forces. Creme, speaking for Maitreya, the World Teacher, emphasized that market forces are blind and those who follow them are similarly blind, and that this will continue to be true until social consciousness rules over their destructive nature.

The unique circumstances of today, including the viral pandemic, extreme economic inequality, and the many social injustices everywhere, create an opening into world affairs for the entrance of Maitreya and His group of Masters. The energies of Pisces are rapidly withdrawing, lessening their impact on humanity with each passing day, while the energies of Aquarius wax strong, gaining strength each day. The qualities of Aquarius are of synthesis, unity and brotherhood. Thus is set up much of today’s struggle, pitting the Piscean emphasis on individuality against the common good, the greater good. One can witness this playing out in the Covid-19 pandemic as those devoted to the past, to the old ways, refuse to take even simple steps that would help protect their brothers and sisters from sickness, placing the right of the individual above the well-being of the whole. Maitreya comes to illuminate many problems such as this, with His practical, common-sense insight into the multitude of things that bedevil us at present and seem beyond our capacity to solve. He will show the way forward. We only have to accept His wise counsel. As mankind’s free-will may not be infringed, it is up to us to choose to listen with both our hearts and minds and allow Him to guide us away from the abyss.

Creating Heaven on Earth

Back in the 1960s and 70s, there arose a magical community in Northern Scotland called Findhorn, founded by Peter and Eileen Caddy and their friend Dorothy Maclean. At least it seemed magical, because they were doing something that had never been done before—growing a proliferation of vibrant and healthy fruits and vegetables on mostly barren sand and gravel. They had worked hard to create their garden by adding composting ingredients to the sand, but visiting experts from the Soil Association, a Scottish group dedicated to organic gardening, insisted that just compost and straw mulch mixed with poor, sandy soil was not enough to produce the magnificent profusion of plant life in the garden—and asked about a “Factor X” that could account for it. One expert, picking up a handful of the powdery soil, exclaimed in amazement that things shouldn’t be growing there at all! Then, although he had not spoken about it to anyone else, Peter finally revealed that “Factor X” was their active cooperation with the devas and nature spirits, outlined in detail in The Findhorn Garden.

Being a gardener myself, I found this fascinating, and began to search for other instances of human-nature interaction. I was already aware of early experiments described in The Secret Life of Plants suggesting that plants have a measurable reaction to being cut and are also somehow inwardly ‘tuned in’ to their owners’ thoughts and emotions. Soon I discovered Michael Roads, a non-native Australian gardener transplanted from the UK, who wrote about how he was able to feel what plants and other elements of nature experience by merging his consciousness with theirs. His description of what a climbing vine experienced when it was poisoned was enough to deter me from ever using poison to kill even a weed!

In the U.S., Machaelle Small Wright picked up the Findhorn approach and founded Perelandra. Initially a simple garden created by communicating with nature spirits, it soon developed into a complete educational Nature Center. Like Findhorn, it has gradually evolved into a spiritual hub focused on teaching others the principles of living in harmony with all living things.

The Findhorn and Perelandra gardens and Michael Roads’ experiences are actually physical demonstrations of basic principles from the Ageless Wisdom teachings: everything is energy, and everything is interconnected. Every aspect of nature is like a cell in the energetic body of the planet, and because of this oneness, the kingdoms of nature—mineral, plant, animal, human, and spiritual—are in constant communication. This takes place at non-physical levels, through the etheric counterparts of every dense physical form. For the lower kingdoms, it is with nature spirits, who oversee them individually, and devas, who provide the “blueprints” for specific plant, animal, insect, etc. varieties. In order to communicate consciously with them, we must develop our intuition, as they did in these remarkable gardens.

Because devas respond to energies, our thoughts and intentions affect them positively or negatively. When our thoughts and actions are hateful and divisive, the devas become disturbed.

For example, the wind and fire devas, when disturbed, may create powerful winds and amplify wildfires. At Findhorn, all the plants in the garden were continually bathed in love, and the gardeners followed the specific instructions of the devas and nature spirits as well, ultimately creating a piece of Heaven on Earth.

Today, this information about inter-species communication is not widely known, and the concept of oneness and interconnection has not yet reached critical mass. In fact, especially in developed countries like the U.S., nature is still being treated as a commodity to be exploited and then discarded by the power-brokers who make policy decisions. Therefore, climate change is wreaking havoc on the Arctic and Antarctic, melting glaciers and raising sea levels along the coasts, where about 40 percent of humanity live. Plastic trash in huge gyres is polluting the oceans and killing marine life, and excess carbon is acidifying it, destroying huge swaths of coral along with their marine ecosystems. New studies show that overall species loss is 10 times worse than scientists previously thought, with current extinction rates 1,000 times higher than normal. Weather extremes are creating millions of climate refugees and devastating entire cities and towns. The situation is dire. Can our separation programming be overwritten before we create irreparable damage to Earth and all life?

The Ageless Wisdom offers great hope. The most recent proponent of this teaching was Benjamin Creme, following predecessors Helena Blavatsky, Helena Roerich, and Alice A. Bailey. Further, because he was in direct contact with one of the Masters of Wisdom— custodians of Earth’s evolutionary plan—Creme had access to information about our current situation and the extraordinary help we are about to receive. For over 30 years, he gave lectures and interviews around the world, wrote 17 books, and edited Share International magazine—all to inform the world that the head of our spiritual hierarchy, Maitreya, would soon be entering the everyday world, along with about 40 other masters in his group. His advent would be to help humanity through the multiple crises in which we find ourselves; reveal to us our true identity as divine beings—all brothers and sisters of one humanity—and inspire us to create a completely new civilization based on oneness and the interconnectedness of all things.

On the day that Maitreya announces himself and speaks to all humanity telepathically, we will suddenly know, everyone all at once, that we are intricately connected with everything on our planet. Can our separation programming be overwritten? Yes, it can! First we will be given a clear picture of our choices: business as usual, leading to utter destruction, OR sharing the world’s resources more equitably and building a beautiful new civilization. Then, if we choose correctly, with a new awareness of who we are and with the help of our spiritual masters to point the way, we will stop doing things that harm Mother Nature, restore the planet, and indeed create Heaven on Earth.

The beautiful future we could have

There has certainly been no lack of protest activity around the country in the past year, on topics ranging from immigration to healthcare, women’s rights, and environmental protection. Most often the signs and posters raised high decry what’s going wrong—what we don’t want. But what is it that we do want? What would a world we’d want to live in look like in practice? Perhaps we can get an indication from a rather unorthodox source.

The unexpected popularity of the new documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor? shows how much people are craving a simpler, gentler, kinder world than the one we’re experiencing today. The film recounts how Fred Rogers, the host and creator of the 1960s children’s show Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, used that TV show as his ministry—he was a Presbyterian minister—to demonstrate a friendly and loving neighborhood environment where all children were accepted, appreciated and loved. Even difficult topics like death and divorce were taken up and discussed in Mr. Rogers’ quiet and compassionate way, to teach children how to successfully cope with life’s sometimes overwhelming challenges. Everything was about love, he said—either giving it or needing it—and he focused his show on providing love in many forms to everyone in the neighborhood, unconditionally.

Many are understandably cynical, thinking that such a world is possible only in flights of childhood imagination. Yet the wisest voices in history, from Gandhi to King to Mandela and many others have told us that our intrinsic nature is to love.

Wouldn’t we all like our neighborhoods to be like Mr. Rogers’? Well, a planetary culture based on real love—a love-in-action that encompasses wisdom, compassion, sharing, justice and acceptance—is the vision for humanity set forth by a great spiritual teacher by the name of Maitreya. According to British author Benjamin Creme, Maitreya has been in our everyday world since 1977, working behind the scenes for our betterment until the conditions are right for him to appear before all of us simultaneously on an international television/internet broadcast. As other great teachers before him, such as Krishna, the Buddha, and Mohammed have done, he has come to bring us the next lessons we need to continue our evolutionary journey on Earth in this new age. And he has brought the Masters of Wisdom, a group of similarly enlightened beings, with him.

While perhaps relatively foreign to western sensibilities, the idea of Masters is well known to eastern cultures. The Masters are simply individuals who have refined their consciousness to the point where they can demonstrate their innate divinity on a moment-to-moment basis in a way we generally cannot. They could be considered our Elder Brothers.

Much as Mr. Rogers spoke earnestly and truthfully with the children in his neighborhood, during his international broadcast, Maitreya will explain that we are all equally beautiful divine beings who have forgotten who we are. He’ll tell us how we’ve lost our way in competition and materialism and how we can repair the damage we’ve done to each other and the Earth. He’ll advise us as one human family to share the resources of the Earth more fairly, as an individual family would do, and he’ll describe the miraculous future we can create together if we choose to share.

In three volumes— Maitreya’s Mission Volumes I, II, and III —Benjamin Creme reveals the outlines of Maitreya’s plan for humanity—which is nothing like our present experience. If we had to choose between the two today, there is no doubt what our choice would be. Let’s take a look at some of the ways our reality will be different, if we decide to act on the understanding that we’re all brothers and sisters in the One Human Family.

Under the guidance of Maitreya and the Masters, we will experience Oneness in an entirely new fashion—not just in theory or in terms of a utopian platitude, but palpably and undeniably. A new energy will begin to pervade our relationships and institutions; a new sense of freedom and joy will replace current tensions and fears. Fairness, cooperation and sharing will become the norm instead of divisiveness and feelings of separation. We will enter an era of tranquility and peace—in exact proportion to the present discord.

Politically and economically, the present system of competition, subterfuge, belligerence, war and terrorism will give way to a completely new, yet ages old, understanding—that as we harm others, we inevitably inflict that very same harm on ourselves. We will comprehend on a practical level the Law of Karma—that whatever causes we set in motion, for good or ill, individually and collectively, inexorably come back and lead to effects which condition our lives and the life of our planet. The Law of Karma, it will be understood, is immutable and governs life in all of Cosmos.

The unrest in much of the world can be seen as the beginning of this new understanding. People worldwide sense the danger of the times, the inadequacy of our present systems and the need for a fresh approach. Millions have repeatedly hit the streets in protest during the past 20 years, demanding an end to war, environmental degradation, economic oppression and political corruption. This voice of the people, further galvanized by Maitreya and the Masters, will lead to a tipping point, an irrefutable worldwide demand for real justice and sanity, a demand the magnitude of which no government or institution on Earth will be able to withstand.

Economically, the acceptance of the principle of sharing—a just and equitable redistribution of the food and resources of the world—will replace the present modus operandi of competition and ravenous consumption at all costs. No longer will billions be forced to make do on $2 a day or less. No longer will children die of malnutrition and related causes in a world with a significant surplus per capita of food. No longer will multitudes have to live in horrifically substandard conditions, lacking even the most basic necessities to sustain life.

New technologies that will transform the way we live are waiting in the wings, with the first stages of their development taking place even now. Solar power will eventually become a new Technology of Light, powered by the sun, that will supply our energy grids, transport systems and all our other energy requirements. This technology will be clean, unlimited and freely available to all. No longer will we befoul the environment burning fossil fuels and fight protracted wars in vain efforts to control their sources.

Even now, new modes of transportation are being developed—quiet, fast and efficient—to replace the noisy, crowded, enervating ones in which we now travel. The accelerating development of the new, so-called hyperloop might be seen as one of the first steps in the evolution of these new modes of travel.

Once the principle of sharing has been universally adopted, a humanity freed from the overwhelming stresses and pressures of trying to survive will experience a freedom and an increase in leisure time available now only to the privileged few. As is already occurring, automated devices will perform manifold tasks, and the human family, unshackled from the burden of drudgery and endless repetitive toil, will witness a blossoming—an explosion—of creativity and artistry the like of which has never been seen. One Master of Wisdom, Djwhal Khul, has said that the art of the past, compared to the art of the coming time, will be like comparing children’s building blocks with the great cathedrals of Europe.

Much ill health will be alleviated by the reduction of stress and through gifts from the Masters. One gift is 777 springs of healing waters to help cleanse the physical body. Some have already been discovered: in Tlacote, Mexico; Nordenau, Germany; and Nadana, India, near Delhi. The Technology of Light, mentioned above, will ultimately facilitate a process whereby, using our own DNA structure, organs can be rebuilt and our bodies revitalized. With new information from the Masters, healing with sound and color will also become sciences of the future.

The universal practice of cremation rather than burial will prevent diseases from migrating into the soil, then into plants and animals we consume, so they will no longer be transferred to future generations. And, as most farming will be organically based, the nutritional value of food will increase and the chemicals and poisons that negatively impact health will go. As a result of all these changes, we will live longer and with more vitality.

Gradually, the worst slums in major cities will be replaced by human-scale housing interspersed with parks, neighborhood shops, and cultural centers, and many people will move from central cities to rural and suburban areas. New buildings will be shaped quite differently from past and present structures, with some being designed to focus and accumulate specific energies.

A new science, the psychology of the soul, will underpin all future educational efforts. The fulfillment of each child’s soul purpose, which teachers will be trained to assess, will become the focus of individualized instruction. Seen as a soul in incarnation, each child’s validity and right to self-expression will be respected. Schools and colleges will integrate increasingly with their surrounding communities, and a closer relationship with work will become the norm, leading to “schools without walls.” Education will rise to the highest priority in each country.

In the future, television will be the key tool through which Maitreya and the Masters teach humanity. “The Masters can project onto the television screens a view of life in the far, far distant past, in Atlantean days, and forward into the future, showing visions of what can be,” Mr. Creme reports. There will be wonderful programs for children, too, perhaps something similar to Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.

As ecological imbalance is one of the top challenges of the next few decades, it will be tackled as a priority if we accept the Masters’ guidance. The pollution of our air, waters, and soil is slowly poisoning everyone; the decimation of the world’s forests and global warming threaten us in numerous ways. Reversing global warming will require the participation of every nation and a complete transformation of the economic structure of the world into one that’s sustainable. The Paris Agreement is a good start on the former; the latter will mean acceptance of the just redistribution of planetary resources that Maitreya will recommend. We will come to see that the urgent need to restore our planet to health and equilibrium rests on the shoulders of all, the powerful and the humble alike.

The Masters have the technology to neutralize the greenhouse effect, atmospheric pollution, and even the effects of nuclear radiation—but we must change our ways before it can safely be given to us. Maitreya will teach that man, God, and nature are one, and that the proper care of the planet is essential to the well-being of the whole. Consequently, a growing concern for nature will soon lead to universally accepted legislation to insure better stewardship of the Earth. And, we in the developed world will simplify our modes of living, cease gross over-production and planned obsolescence of products, and stop using atomic fission as a source of energy. People will live in closer contact with nature, and there will be greater harmony among the plant, animal, and human kingdoms.

Looking at our world today, it’s hard to imagine that the average person’s dreams of harmony, happiness, peace and fulfillment could possibly be realized, much less those of everyone on the planet. However, that is Maitreya’s promise: if we choose to care for each other and the Earth as one interdependent whole and share the abundant resources given us, we’ll create a civilization more magnificent than any yet known. Mr. Rogers showed us a small neighborhood where all the inhabitants lived peacefully with each other; it’s up to us to expand that vision to include all of humanity, the other kingdoms of nature, and the Earth itself.

America’s Wilderness Experience

Ascension Day is a Catholic holiday celebrated 40 days after Easter Sunday. This year the day fell on Thursday, May 21. Can you think of what you were doing on May 21, 2020, or on Easter Sunday? For many Americans and many more around the world, that day was experienced at home, most likely performing very similar tasks and activities as the day before. The world was, and still is, on a global quarantine . We were asked to stay home to stop the spread of a viral infection.

The number 40 appears many times in many traditions. It is referenced several times in the Bible, both in the Old and New Testaments. It has often been referred to as a symbol of testing, trails, judgment, and perseverance. The number 40 is viewed as a symbol of faith and perfection. Perhaps the most common references we have of the number 40 in religious traditions come from Bible stories —references such as the story of Noah’s ark and the 40 days and 40 nights of rain that flooded the earth. The Hebrews sojourned 40 years in the desert before arriving at the promised land, and Jesus’ fasting and his temptation in the desert lasted for 40 days and 40 nights. These three stories alone paint a clear image of the meaning and symbolism of the number 40.

This period of 40 days/years can also be called “the wilderness experience” —a period of testing, the experience of being lost in a completely new environment, where life’s outcome is unknown and every new step brings a new, unforeseen challenge.

The wilderness experience is what the world is going through now. Every region, every county, and every living organism is going through it. Individually, and as a group, we are part of this experience. It is like walking through a cloud of fog—the fog of life—and this fog is a reflection of ourselves. The fog is the “stuff” or energy we accumulate during our life’s journey; it is what we call karma, the law of cause and effect in action, and in a manner never seen or experienced before.

Each experience is quite unique and personal; there are no two alike. Just as no two nations have had the same experience dealing with the Coronavirus outbreak, no two individuals will have the same experience. As members of a larger group, both national and international, we all are impacted, and our individual actions affect the whole.

The wilderness experience is a reflection of who we are—in particular our hidden secrets and dark personality traits. The wilderness comes dressed in shiny garments, and can slowly eat us away if we fall prey to its charms. The experience is here to test us, and only the pure, honest, and gentle traits will sustain us and lead us to come out victorious.

This period of test and reflection will offer gifts, too, but only at the end, after the fog has disappeared and the false gifts have been denied. Only then will we see the beauty of the new world. On that day, we will have full vision restored.

In America, we are going through our own unique experience, and I tell you, the fog is dense and it’s hard to see far ahead. We need to be prepared, as the ghosts of our past deeds venture near. They wander, lost in the fog, and are looking for prey to seduce. They will do so until we offer forgiveness and come to peace with our past. We need to heal the wounds and look for a fresh new start.

There is a promise of a new world full of hope, a new world where no two days are alike. The new world is made from dreams come to life. The new experience is built by human hands and human minds. The young, students of the past, witnesses and participants of the present are forging the new world day by day, and will not stop until the work is complete.

The wilderness experience is different for them, as life, in general, is a brand-new experience; it is fresh and is just now being built. So, they walk with more confidence and speak with a louder voice. Their strength is in their numbers, their ability to communicate and work together. They are the future, and the virtuous ones will lead us into the new world.

Only the power of sharing will lead us out of this fog. “Sharing is divine,” Maitreya says. Divinity is Light, the Light that will guide us out of the fog, out of the wilderness into the New Country of Love.

No one walks through the gates of Heaven alone.

Today we see everywhere fragmentation in human thinking, alliances, and actions—splits that are causing chaotic conditions at all levels, from personal and local to national and global, in every field of endeavor. Fortunately, this chaos is only a temporary condition resulting from three extraordinary happenings now taking place: an evolutionary leap we’re preparing to make in human consciousness, new energies entering the planet and stimulating that leap, and the presence in our midst of the World Teacher and his group, the Masters of Wisdom.

These three happenings are intricately woven together and will ultimately result in the creation of a new civilization of peace, security, justice, and material sufficiency for every person on the planet. In the meantime, however, we would do well to understand the fundamental reasons for our current crises and how we can resolve them.

Most of humanity’s pressing problems stem from the fact that we fail to grasp the binding unity underlying all our diversity. We consequently identify with just about everything—our position in life, our religious and/or political beliefs, our economic status, our country, our family, our racial background, our desires and dreams—everything but that basic, essential unity. Thus, our misplaced alliances to these notions often deny us any real understanding that we are all truly one.

Our lack of understanding of this overall unity has led humanity to the precipice of disaster. Politically, governments the world over struggle to find consensus on basic issues of human rights, justice and tolerance, so great is the present atmosphere of distrust and division. Belligerence and posturing take the place of negotiation and diplomacy, as many governments—none more than that of the United States—seek dominance rather than cooperation, control rather than peaceful co-existence. Consider, for instance, U.S.-China communications.

Socially, deep divisions along racial, ethnic and religious lines continually threaten to break into hostility and even all-out war. The ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a case in point. The tragic immolation of the Yemeni people at the hands of the Saudi regime is another. Racism, ethnic intolerance and long-held tribal hatreds bedevil attempts at mutual understanding and reconciliation. Even within nations themselves, some groups, usually small but disproportionately powerful economically, hold others in the tight grip of oppression and subjugation. Take, for example, the tiny group of obscenely wealthy people who are buying influence, perverting legal systems and subverting fair and transparent election processes in the United States.

Economically, we have reached a point where, according to Oxfam International, less than 25 people in the world have a collective net worth greater than that of the bottom half of the world’s population. Recently, a handful of the world’s richest men have seen their fortunes increase by billions as a result of a worldwide health crisis. And so, the attendant discrepancies in living standards between the wealthy and the poor, between rich nations and developing ones, continue all but unabated. In a world with a ten percent per capita surplus of food and resources, 21,000-24,000 people*, many of them children, die daily due to malnutrition and related causes. Hundreds of millions struggle to make ends meet in conditions of substandard housing, infrastructures, wages and living conditions. Over three billion people on the planet must make do on five dollars a day or less.

Environmentally, the world’s prevalent economic model of consumption, competition, and economic growth at all costs has brought us to the brink of ecological catastrophe. The continuous burning of fossil fuels to satisfy our needs for energy, coupled with the indiscriminate clear-cutting of the world’s rainforests—all done for short-term financial profit—have demonstrably heated up the environment. The effects of global warming, from hurricanes and floods of unprecedented magnitude to wildfires of unprecedented scale and destructiveness, take their toll yearly in terms of human lives, displacement of populations, loss of infrastructure and other essential frameworks for existence.

And now, almost as a result of historical inevitability, a global health crisis has brought the world to a near total standstill. It took an illness that respects no borders, political systems, economic ideologies, religious dogmas, racial, gender or age profiles or any other kind of illusory division to begin to compel us to take note, to observe and honor that underlying unity that binds us all.

The pandemic has also brought us to a point of no return. There will be no going back to the old ways of doing things, to the same interminably destructive “business as usual.” And as harrowing and tragic as have been many of its consequences, as unpleasant as is the difficulty with which we are now confronted, the pandemic now also compels us to reconsider the way we conduct life on this planet. That alone may be the greatest gift this terrible illness can give us.

We must understand that we are One.

The truth of our oneness is borne out by recent discoveries in quantum physics. Every atom in Cosmos is connected to every other atom, and there is, neither philosophically nor palpably, any separation. This view is substantiated as well by the essence of all the great religious and spiritual teachings of the world, and by the words and the actions of all the great sages who have come down through the ages to guide and instruct us. All are One. All is One.

So what keeps us from experiencing this oneness? A prime factor is that we’ve been living under the influence of Piscean energies for the past approximately two thousand years, which are characterized by individuality and devotion to one’s own ideals—with little consideration for others’ ideals and beliefs. Now Earth’s orbit is moving closer to the constellation Aquarius, whose energies stimulate brotherhood, cooperation, and synthesis. As the waxing energies of Aquarius overlap the waning energies of Pisces, conflict often results between those aligned with Piscean and those aligned with Aquarian structures and processes. That divide is strikingly evident in the U.S. Congress. As we proceed closer to Aquarius—that is, further into the Aquarian Age—we will see greater cooperation and more conciliatory attitudes in that body as well as society in general.

A second major factor affecting our experienced reality is the entrance into our world of a group of incorruptible Teachers, unparalleled in their enlightenment and wisdom, unequalled in their ability to love and to serve. They are the Masters of Wisdom. At their head stands a being of extraordinary spiritual potency and understanding: Maitreya, the World Teacher for the Aquarian Age. These Masters are the custodians of the divine plan for our planet, a plan that embodies the sweep and the force of evolution itself. They have come at this time to guide us safely into the future.

Maitreya embodies the energy of love and brings it to the planet in potencies beyond our comprehension, and his energy is further amplified by two great spiritual beings known as the Avatar of Synthesis and the Spirit of Peace and Equilibrium. The effect of these powerful cosmic energies on humanity is to amplify whatever tendencies characterize an individual; both negative and positive traits are equally stimulated. This, explains Maitreya, is to put before humanity two opposing lines of action, clearly delineated, so that we can intelligently choose the kind of future we want. In biblical terms, it is the ‘Sword of Cleavage,’ setting brother against brother.

When Maitreya is invited, as expected, to speak to the world through a worldwide satellite hookup, he will explain clearly the two choices before us: to continue with business as usual and ultimately end all life on the planet, or to share the world’s food and resources more equitably so that everyone is guaranteed the basic necessities of life. If we choose sharing, he promises we will create a brilliant civilization the likes of which has never been seen on the planet. He has said that he knows our hearts, and therefore knows what our choice will be, but nevertheless we must make the choice consciously.

Stimulated and inspired by the new energies flooding into the planet and the presence of Maitreya and the Masters of Wisdom, we will make a gigantic leap in consciousness. Many individuals have already done so, but after Maitreya’s worldwide telecast, the masses of humanity will know themselves as divine for the first time and a monumental shift will take place. The presence of these great souls is the guarantee that, despite the outward conflict and disharmony, humanity has before it a future of lasting peace, harmony and universal brother and sisterhood—if we choose it and work together to implement new structures.

In truth, we have been preparing for the coming era of unity for a very long time. Beneath our conscious awareness and inspired on inner planes by the Masters, three experiments in identity-building have been taking place—studies in how diverse groups of people might come together in a cohesive whole. In the United Kingdom, groups representing many parts of the Commonwealth of Nations—53 diverse and wide-ranging countries—live closely side by side. While they strongly maintain their national identities, they live together in relative peace.

In contrast, the United States has welcomed representatives of many European and other countries who migrated here, mixed together, intermarried, and ultimately produced something entirely unique: an American. The third experiment, the old U.S.S.R., represents unity in diversity on a larger scale. Its now independent states are separate, but part of a vast federation.

While in a broad sense these experiments seem to be going rather well, our handling of the three great political ideologies—democracy, communism, and fascism—is more problematic. According to British author Benjamin Creme, these ideologies represent humanity’s distorted attempts to express the three aspects of God: love, wisdom, and will. Ideally, democracy would reflect the love nature of God, communism divine wisdom, and fascism the benevolent will of God. Gradually, each ideology will evolve into a better reflection of the divine idea and the three will coexist in harmony. Today, however, followers of each form are convinced that their system is the only viable one and are prepared to plunge the world into a nuclear war to defend it.

As if responding to this dilemma, one of the Masters dictated the following words of encouragement to Mr. Creme for Share International magazine, and they were later published in Volume Two of his book A Master Speaks :

Fortunately for man**, he is never left without help when it is needed. However difficult the circumstances, however great and grave the dangers which he faces, of one thing he can be sure: he will never be abandoned by his Elder Brothers. Time after time in men’s long history, when all seemed lost and the future of man perilously unsure, our succour has been forthcoming and the forward path of men restored once more. So it is today at this tumultuous time when men stand in a maelstrom of warring forces, unsure of the next step and all but overwhelmed by the enormity of the task ahead.

Emerging from our ancient retreats, we redirect our thoughts and steps to aid our struggling brothers. To show, by example, that all is not lost, that another and better way exists for men to organize their lives; that unity and happiness come from justice and freedom; that sharing is the natural action of unity and the simple answer to all man’s woes.

Sharing, then, must be the bottom line for the immediate future in all our endeavors. Another message from that same Master, quoted in Mr. Creme’s book Unity in Diversity: The Way Ahead for Humanity , puts it in eloquent terms:

The answer therefore is simple: the implementation of the principle of sharing provides the solution to the divisions in our planetary life. Nothing less will do. Sharing is divine, part of God’s plan for his children, and must one day become manifest.

And when men share, the divisions will grow together, the separations will be healed; and through the three major political structures the Love, the Will and the Intelligence of God will find a truer reflection. A true Democracy in which all men participate will take the place of the present sham. A new spirit of freedom will invest the Communist ideal with warmth and love. A truly spiritual hierarchy embodying the beneficent Will of God will one day replace the present authoritarian regimes.

Thus will it be. Thus will the outer forms reflect the inner divine life and purpose and so present to men new modes of expression and relationship through which their growing sense of the nature of God can be realized.

All awaits the acceptance of sharing – the key to justice and peace.

Today we are all experiencing one or more of the negative effects of an incredibly destructive ‘agent of change’. Truth be told, horrific things happen every day on this planet, but they usually affect other people in other places. COVID-19, on the other hand, has the potential to reach anyone, anywhere, and our lives have been upended in a multitude of ways. The obvious questions—how do we stop this virus, how can we protect ourselves from a resurgence, will we be able to resurrect the global economy, what happens if our jobs can’t be restored—are all unknowns. They occupy our thoughts and emotions daily, hourly, with every newscast or twitter feed.

For some, the crisis is merely an inconvenient interruption in their ‘business as usual.’ For some it has increased their already staggering profits or created new ways to capitalize at the expense of others. But for most of the other billions of people on the planet it is a radically amplified survival issue.

From both scientific and spiritual perspectives, we know that nothing happens by chance: “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction” and “As you sow, so shall you reap.” What is happening today has its roots in everything that has gone before, and when the tension reaches a tipping point, something extraordinary happens to get our attention. This pandemic may be saying “STOP... NOW ... look at the world you have built ... untold suffering amidst obscene excess ... all life forms and the planet itself in mortal danger.” The winding down and isolation are giving us the opportunity to think about these issues deeply and come out of it with a better Plan B.

That so many people are actually getting the message is an incredibly hopeful sign. Neighbors are helping with each other’s daily needs; service organizations are expanding their roles and methods to accommodate a rapidly increasing clientele; advocacy groups are fighting hard on behalf of the environment, human rights, social justice and many more crucial issues; scientific organizations around the world are sharing their findings in an effort to develop both treatments and vaccines; governments are trying to lift the financial burden of their citizens.

What would happen if this behavior were to continue on an even bigger scale after the coronavirus is subdued? Could it not eventually lead to treating a recovering planet as a ‘global village’ and its citizens as the one human family it truly is? It would take time, but it has to start with the recognition of our interdependence and demanding of our ‘leaders’ that we all push the ‘reset’ button and begin to move in this direction!

Fortunately, at this very time, a little-known cosmic event is also taking place. As we move into the beginning of the Aquarian age, characterized by energies of synthesis, unity and cooperation, the spiritual custodians of human evolution—the Masters of Wisdom—have once again sent one of their great ones into the world to act as a teacher for the coming time. Some of the past teachers we have known historically as Confucius, Krishna, Buddha, the Christ and Mohammed. Major world religions all expect another great teacher at some future time, and his imminent appearance has been foreseen by some writers since the late 1800s.

For more than 40 years, British esotericist and lecturer Benjamin Creme informed the world of a coming change, of the collapse of our old structures to make way for the new. He served as a herald for the World Teacher for this age, Maitreya—the one expected by many and longed for by millions (consciously or not), who has come now to guide us through this perilous time and into a cleansed and transformed new world.

Maitreya has advised humanity to make the needed changes to put our world on a saner, fairer path— for all 7.7 billion of us —and his advice can be summarized in a few words:

“He [Maitreya] will show that essentially men are one, no matter the colour or the creed, that the bounty of Earth belongs to all, and that sharing of that bounty is the key to man’s future. Only sharing, and the justice which it will bring, offers hope to man. Only justice wrought out of sharing will end the plagues of war and terror. Only sharing and justice can bring men to that Brotherhood which is their true inheritance. When men see this they will rise to the challenge and tackle one by one the many problems which daunt us now. Maitreya’s Light will support and balance men in their eagerness for the changes which must ensue, and, in right order, the world will be renewed.” (Benjamin Creme’s Master from ‘Transformation,’ Share International magazine )

Maitreya and his group have worked behind the scenes for millennia to guide a human family endowed with free will. By all appearances today, we have not used that free will wisely and are reaping the consequences. But with these powerful, incorruptible allies at our back, we have the opportunity right now to start rebuilding a world that works for everyone. When asked “...what period of time must we endure, struggle and fight?” the Master DK replied: “He [Maitreya] will come unfailingly when a measure of peace has been restored, when the principle of sharing is at least in process of controlling economic affairs, and when churches and political groups have begun to clean house.” We are on that road now! The Deeper Meaning Behind Today’s Chaos

To many today, it appears the world is going to hell in a handbasket, and that perception is completely understandable. What is lacking, however, is an awareness of what’s behind the chaos and confusion, so that events can be seen in context. In fact, there are cosmic forces at play that the average person has little knowledge of, and becoming aware of them can dissipate some of the fear and anxiety that now grip so much of the human family.

One major cause of the extreme polarization presently seen in most countries is the astronomical fact that we are in a transition between two ‘ages’—the Age of Pisces and the incoming Age of Aquarius, which we’ve recently entered. As our solar system travels around the galaxy, our sun comes into alignment with each constellation in turn, and is influenced by the cosmic energies streaming from that constellation until it moves out of range. During the time we are in alignment with a particular constellation, we are said to be in the corresponding ‘age.’

For approximately 2,000 years we have been in alignment with Pisces—or in the Age of Pisces—and our present civilization has developed in response to its energies. Two qualities of Pisces are individuality and devotion to an ideal, but in our expression of these qualities we have tended to cling to our own ideals at the expense of all others. This has created serious divisions in the world—political, economic and religious—and violent confrontations between those holding different points of view. However, the sun has now moved away from the influence of Pisces, and is coming into alignment with the constellation Aquarius. The incoming energies of Aquarius carry the quality of synthesis, and oppose the separative, outgoing energies of Pisces. During the transition between the ages, friction and conflict are almost inevitable; however as the energies of Aquarius become more predominant, greater unity and cooperation will be seen.

Fortunately for humanity, another little known cosmic event is taking place in concert with the shifting planetary cycles. At the beginning of each age, the spiritual custodians of human evolution send one of their great ones into the world to act as a teacher for the coming time. Some of these we have known historically as Confucius, Krishna, Buddha, the Christ, and Mohammed. Major world religions all expect another great teacher at some future time, and his imminent appearance has been foreseen by some writers since the early 1800s. The books of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, first introduced the fact of our spiritual mentors to the western world, and those of Alice A. Bailey predicted the reappearance of a great teacher around the turn of the 21st century. The contemporary books and lectures of British artist and esotericist Benjamin Creme indicate that he is here now—and has been since July, 1977. Creme reveals that the teacher’s personal name is Maitreya, and that he has been working behind the scenes since his arrival to aid and uplift people everywhere, and to help achieve peace and reconciliation among nations. His public emergence will take place when conditions are right and humanity is seen to be most receptive to his message.

 One phase of Maitreya’s teaching began in 1988 and continued to 1993. The teachings were given to a close associate of his in the Asian community of London—his ‘point of focus’ in the modern world—and by that associate to two independent journalists. Those predictions relating to future world events were then passed to Mr. Creme for publication in the magazine he edited, Share International, and were also distributed to world media in a series of news releases. They were later published in Mr. Creme’s book, Maitreya’s Teachings: The Laws of Life .

Maitreya made many political predictions of startling accuracy, such as the end of the ‘Cold War;’ the break-up of the Soviet Union; the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of apartheid in South Africa; and the fall from power of Mikhail Gorbachev and Margaret Thatcher. Other, more general predictions about future events continue to manifest even now, because Maitreya understands the Laws of Cause and Effect, and this enables him to foresee the effects of causes we ourselves have set in motion.

We are in a spiritual crisis, Maitreya says, but it is playing out in the political and economic spheres. Therefore, many of his predictions and teachings deal with these two spheres. Of politicians, he had this to say in 1991:

Politicians have double standards. When the leaders themselves have lost the way, what have they to offer? They are like zombies: psychologically, spiritually, mentally finished.

And this, in 1989:

The politicians have been using their power to accrue material wealth and have used the forces of law and order to maintain their position of power. These tactics used to be employed by the kings of old. Now politicians behave like kings in the name of the people. They have used their position to create an elite class of power and wealth while others have been deprived of food, health and education, and left to kill themselves with drugs.

These descriptions could have been written about the current leaders of several leading democracies, so apt and prescient are they.

Regarding the economy, Maitreya has said:

The present economic systems are crumbling. … It is clear now that pure capitalism has come to an end. It has no future whatsoever. The economy, education, the environment—everything—will be placed within the context of global social democracy in which everyone participates. Communism also is coming to an end.

The essence of market forces is greed and separatism. The more one is attached to these forces, the more they create cells of imprisonment. This leads to spiritual bankruptcy and mental disequilibrium.

We shall see the taming of market forces which have become the creed of so many politicians. They have deprived people of their health and wealth but the people are awakening now in the name of humanity. The bounty of the nations will be shared among everyone.

We are certainly seeing evidence of the corrosion of human society begotten by unrestrained capitalism and market forces, in the form of extreme wealth and income inequality; accelerating homelessness everywhere; health care that’s unaffordable for the neediest, and sometimes even the middle class; students saddled with mountainous debt just to get an education; food, water and soil polluted with toxic chemicals from big agricultural, fossil fuel and pharmaceutical corporations; the elimination of safety nets that allow the poor to receive basic services; and on and on, in every department of life.

 Many economic experts foresee a major financial collapse in the near future. This has also been predicted by Maitreya, and will result in a shift of government priorities from wealth creation to ensuring the welfare of the people.

Meanwhile, as people worldwide witness the disintegration of traditional institutions and norms, they are rising up en mass and protesting—especially the young. ‘People power’ is thus another force bringing change, and Maitreya predicted this long before it began:

The young will rebel against the ideologies of old, whether they are imposed on them by politicians, religious leaders or intellectuals. And their demands will have impact. … Young people want to see constitutions that are by the people and for the people. They are tired of the old nepotisms of family, party and ideology. …

People everywhere are becoming aware, and will be unwilling to be dominated by others when their destiny is to be free. Governments everywhere will have to listen to the people. Government will be by the people, for the people. …

Ordinary people, intellectuals, educationalists and others from a variety of walks of life will find they have a genuine voice in government. This will replace control of the masses through ideology. Evolution means evolution towards freedom.

The power of the people is evident throughout the world today. Popular revolt started with the ‘Arab Spring’ and has continued—and grown—in many forms and many countries. For example, the ‘yellow vest’ movement in France was initially motivated by rising fuel prices and a high cost of living. Protesters called for lower fuel taxes, a reintroduction of the solidarity tax on wealth, a minimum-wage increase, and the implementation of citizens' initiative referendums, among other things.

Numerous protests have taken place in the U.S. and Canada—and continue— against the construction of fossil fuel pipelines and the destruction of public lands by drilling and mining. Indigenous communities have been especially active in these, since many of the pipelines are programmed to go through their sacred lands without their permission. In the U.S., frequent protests around the country call for gun control; women’s rights; tolerance for all people regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, or any other superficial quality; economic and social justice; and environmental restoration and protection.

Massive and long-lasting protests in Hong Kong continue over the government’s apparent plan to take away some of Hong Kong’s independence from mainland China and curtail the people’s freedom. In Lebanon protests have been against a tax on WhatsApp and endemic corruption; in Chile, a hike in the metro fare and rampant inequality. Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela have all seen popular uprisings. Even in the Middle East, continuing dissent has been labeled a second ‘Arab Spring.’

But probably the largest and most widespread protests are the worldwide actions designed to force governments to address our climate emergency. The face of these protests is, unsurprisingly, a young person—Greta Thunberg, the 17-year-old Swedish schoolgirl who went from sitting outside the Swedish parliament alone with her ‘School Strike’ sign, to speaking to world leaders at the World Economic Forum and being named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.

The environment is one of Maitreya’s major concerns as well, and closely related to that is one of his most basic teachings: the fact of Oneness—that we are all part of one human family, that everything is energy, and everything is interconnected. Every aspect of nature is like a cell in the energetic body of the planet, and because of this Oneness, the kingdoms of nature—mineral, plant, animal, human, and spiritual—are in constant communication. This takes place at non-physical levels, through the etheric counterparts of every dense physical form. For the lower kingdoms, it is with devas, who provide the ‘blueprints’ for specific plant, animal, insect, etc., varieties, and nature spirits, who oversee individual life forms. We humans communicate telepathically and emotionally through our etheric or energy bodies.

Because devas respond to energies, our thoughts and intentions affect them positively or negatively. When our thoughts and actions are hateful and divisive, the devas become disturbed. For example, the wind and fire devas, when disturbed, may create powerful winds and amplify wildfires.

Today, the reality of communication among humans, plants, animals and other natural elements is not widely known, and the concept of Oneness has not yet reached critical mass. However, through these teachings, we can understand how our chaotic, hateful, or warlike thoughts and actions have real world consequences.

For example, Maitreya explained massive explosions in certain parts of the world this way:

We do not understand, as yet, the results on the physical plane of our own destructive thoughts. The collective destructive thoughts of many (such as those generated during wars) actually become massive, energized thought-formations. These are causes. The explosions are the inevitable effects.

Maitreya is not a prophet of doom. Rather, man must take responsibility for his own thoughts, words and deeds. Thus he grows spiritually .

Together, the Laws of Cause and Effect and the fact of Oneness teach us to become harmless and to live in harmony with the whole of creation. It’s up to us to create the world we want, but let’s not forget that we have Maitreya’s help, Aquarian energies pushing us toward cooperation and brotherhood, and the unstoppable rise of people power.
